The Cat's Pajamas New Release and May Blog Hop

It is release day for The Cat's Pajamas! Two new stamp sets, two new dies and one new cutable are now available in The Cat's Pajamas shop.

We are celebrating the release with a blog hop which also represents TCP Tuesday #336 with a theme of Sand, Sea and Sky. The full details on how you can participate are on The Cat's Pajamas blog. If you came here from the very creative Deborah's blog then you are right on track. If not, then start at the beginning at Julie's blog.

I couldn't resist the second bunny image in the Bunnies at Sea set, stamped onto a Neenah cardstock piece and colored up with Copic markers. I created a frame overlay panel using a die from the Scalloped Duo Die for the cut out. The stars and buoys from the older Aye Aye Captain set was stamped and then colored with Copics. The sentiment was stamped with vermillion ink. The image and frame panel were attached with foam tape to a soft stone card base.

Our Refuge and Strength

Today's simple card is for the Reverse Confetti Sketch #48 challenge.

I replaced the squares in the sketch with circles cut from patterned paper using one of the dies from the Reverse Confetti Detailed Circles set. After white heat embossing the sentiment from the My Rock set onto a vellum tag, I attached to the card front using a mini brad.

The Cat's Pajamas May Sneak Peeks!

Welcome to the The Cat's Pajamas Sneaky Peek Week! We have some fabulous new stamps and dies which will be released on May 30 in the TCP store. I am kicking off the first of seven days of Sneaky Peek week today. Each member of the design team will be taking turns sharing creations so be sure to stop by The Cat's Pajamas blog everyday to see who is on the schedule.

So let's get started because I have several projects to show you.

I used the smooshing with acetate water color technique onto a piece of Ranger Distress watercolor cardstock using hawaiian shores ink and then cut out with a stitched die. I then stamped the sentiment from the new Doodled Shells stamp set using black ink. After cutting out the starfish using a die from the new Shells CutUps, I sponged it with Antique Linen distress ink and then attached to the background with a layer of foam. A few wood veneer stars and cording wrapped and tied at the top of the card finished it up a very clean and simple card.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and dies, Ranger and PTI cs, Studio Calico wood veneer stars, Hemptique cord, PTI, Simon Says and Ranger inks

This card features one of the bunnies from the new Bunnies at Sea set. This set is full of fun sea related images and sentiments. After coloring snorkeling bunny with Copic Markers, I fussy cut him out and then went to work on the watery background. I started out by cutting out several pieces from light and dark aqua cardstock, using the also new Beaches CutUps set. I layered them onto a piece of StickIt adhesive paper alternating the colors and then cut out with a stitched die. Another smaller stitched die was used to cut out the center to create a frame. I placed the frame over a Distress Ink water colored background. After stamping a few of the bubbles from the set directly onto the panel, snorkeling bunny was attached using foam tape. The sentiment was stamped onto a matted rectangle. A few sparkly enamel dots finished it up for an underwater scene.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and dies, Stampin' Up, Ranger and PTI cs, Doodlebug enamel dots, Ranger and MFT ink, Copic Markers
Copics: W00, E81, C00, C1, C3, Y0000, Y11, Y15

You will find that the Beaches CutUps are so versatile and can be used in a variety of ways including as a border, a background, sea weed, beach sand, waves, etc. For this card I started out by cutting out a tag from patterned paper using the Holiday Tag Duo CutUps. I then used the sailboat die from the Beaches CutUps for an inlaid die look as well as the stitched die to create sea waves. I finished the tag with a small stitched cloud cut with the Stitched Clouds CutUps and topped with an enamel star. The sentiment from the Aye Aye Captain set was stamped directly onto the card base along with an image from last month's Watercolor Basics. The tag was attached with foam tape over a couple of strips of washi tape.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and dies, Doodlebug dp, Bazzill and PTI cs, May Arts ribbon, Doodlebug enamel dots, PTI and Simons Says ink

I couldn't resist picking up the Doodled Shells set again. It is just so pretty and you will be amazed at all the different looks my fellow design team members have created with it. I first prepared my background by messily applying green parakeet and blueberry sky inks with water onto a Ranger watercolor cardstock background. After it dried completely, I cut out with a stitched die and then white heat embossed three of the shell images onto it. The the sentiment from the Simply Stacked Sentiments was stamped with blueberry sky ink. The big shell was cut from blush and white cardstock using a die the Shells CutUps set. I used a copic marker (R01) to create some shadows and then edged the outside with Antique Linen distress ink. I added a flourish cut from green parakeet cardstock using the Heart Swirl CutUps, wrapped it around the shell die cut and attached both with dimensional foam.

You Are in My Thoughts

It's been a difficult week to say the least. My husband lost most of the sight in his left eye Monday afternoon. We weren't really sure where to start so we called the doctor who did his lens implants after cataract surgery a long time ago and we managed to get in the following morning. They determined fairly quickly that the lens had slipped out of place but were having trouble locating it so we were there a good part of the day. Not only was he unable to see out of the eye, the wandering lens was compromising his retina. Surgery was scheduled bright and early Thursday with a retina specialist going first for the removal and then the original surgeon to replace the lens. It was a long 2 1/2 hour surgery but thank God all went well. Friday, we went for post op checks with both doctors so it was another busy day. He is recovering but experiencing some discomfort as well as blurriness and we have several different eye drops for use in 1-5 weeks. He is movement restricted and is struggling with the inactivity. By Saturday I was feeling rather frazzled so I retreated to the craft room for a little stamping.

I actually completed a couple of cards and stamped up two more. I doubled dipped on challenges for today's card combining the sketch from the Cas(e) this Sketch #222 and the colors from the Color Throwdown #443 challenge. These are my favorite card colors and I can't resist a CAS sketch.

After attaching a border from patterned paper on the edge, I stamped two of the leaves from the Essentials by Ellen Bohemian Garden set directly onto the card front using green parakeet ink. I then stamped one of the flowers from the same set onto Neenah cardstock and cut out with the matching die from the Bohemian Garden die set. After coloring with Copic markers, it was attached with a foam dimensional dot. The sentiment from The Cat's Pajamas Simply Said was stamped onto a strip of hawaiian shores cardstock. A few enamel dots finished it up.

Products: Essentials by Ellen stamps and dies, MME dp, Neenah and PTI cs, Doodlebug enamel dots, PTI and MFT ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Y11, Y13, Y15, B000, B01, B04

Waving Hello

Hello there! I am still slowly working my way back into stamping after the big move. I have actually been creating, just nothing I can show you yet.

It's been a long time since I have regularly participated in challenges but yesterday (Mother's Day) was a difficult day for me so I decided to get crafty to take my mind off it. This card is for the current Mix It Up Challenge which is to create a project using both Essentials by Ellen and Reverse Confetti products.

I cut the tag from navy blue cardstock using the Reverse Confetti Thanks Tag die set. After stamping one of the background images from the Essentials by Ellen Wonky Backdrops set onto white cardstock I cut out using the rounded rectangle layer die from the same tag set. After stamping the octopus from the Reverse Confetti Seaside set using smoke ink, I cut it using the matching die. I stamped the sentiment onto a white card stock piece, then layered everything onto the tag using foam dots. I added the banner cut from yellow cardstock using a die from the Gift Card Holder Tag set and a wee bit of twine to the tag hole to finish it up. After attaching the tag to the card base, I added two strips of card stock at the bottom of the tag for a simple and masculine look.

Products: Reverse Confetti stamps and dies, Essentials by Ellen stamp, Recollections, Simon Says and PTI cs, The Twinery twine, Simon Says and MFT inks

I hope your week is off to a great start.
