Waving Hello {Purple Onion Designs}

Today's card were created with Purple Onion Designs stamps from the Happy Trails collection illustrated by Stacey Yacula.

I created this card during the release of the new collection but never posted it. Mainly because I had to redo the image because I wasn't happy with my first try. It is still not my best effort despite the fact that the SS Minnow image is just so very cute. The sentiment came from the also new Journey Sentiment Set

BTW, I am having some problems with my blog but hopefully I have it fixed now.

Tag You're It Challenge - Week 4

I am guest designing for the Tag You're It challenge this month. Today's tag was suppose to be for week 3 but I screwed up the dates and didn't get it in on time.

This is the sweet tag created by Lindsey Larsen for the challenge inspiration.

I was inspired by the background cutout as well as the word die. I used the Reverse Confetti Topped Off Tag and Scalloped Tag Layer  to cut from kraft and tropical teal card stock and layered together. I cut the Sand Dollar from water color card stock, edged with antique linen distress ink and attached to the tag with a layer of craft foam. The word was cut once from paper cork and twice from white card stock using a die from the Papertrey Ink Super Swoosh set. I topped off the tag with a tab also cut from the paper cork using a die from the Reverse Confetti Hang Ups set.

Products: Reverse Confetti dies, Bazzill,. Ranger and PTI cs, The Twinery twine, PTI die, Ranger Distress ink

Now head on over to the Tag You're It Challenge blog to see the amazing inspiration from the design team as well as how to join in on this fun challenge.

Faith Can Move Mountains

I used the June Sketch for You to Try for the layout on today's card.

I cut a circle from light blue card stock using a die from the Reverse Confetti Lacy Scallop Circles set and then stamped one of the sentiments from The Lord's Strength set using dark chocolate ink. I then stamped the mountains from the Bearing Gifts set onto Neenah cs and cut out with the matching Bearing Gifts die set. After coloring with Copic markers,  I tucked a "sun" behind the image and attached to the circle with dimensional dots. I prepared the background with three strips of patterned paper and then attached the sentiment/image panel with a layer of craft foam for a masculine faith based card.

Hello

I couldn't resist making a project for the Ellen Hutson June Pin-Sights challenge as the colors and the florals are right up my alley.

I started out with some messy water coloring with hibiscus burst and summer sunrise ink onto a Ranger water color rectangle cut with a My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched die. Summer sunrise did not turn out as orang-y as  wanted to be but I still like it. After the panel dried, I then stamped the dots image from the Essentials by Ellen Wonky Backdrops using Versamark ink and white heat embossed for a bit of subtle interest. Next I stamped and cut leaves, stems and a flower from the Bohemian Garden stamp set and then cut out with the matching Bohemian Garden dies. After water coloring the main flower and leaves, I added White Opal Liquid Pearls to the flower center. I popped up the main floral bunch and then slipped in a couple of sketched and water colored flowers using dies from the Wild Garden die set. I used the Brushstroke Hello die to cut out the sentiment from a couple of layers of plain white card stock and then lastly from card stock water colored with hibiscus burst ink. I layered them all together and then attached to the card front.

Products: Essentals by Ellen stamps and dies, Ranger water color cs, Ranger Liquid Pearls, MFT die, PTI inks

Have a blessed Tuesday. See you back here soon.

Waving Hello

I did not know I needed the Reverse Confetti Scalloped Tag Layer  until Jen's recent sale. Funny how that works. I just got in a few days ago and I have already used it twice during the weekend including today's card for the Color Throwdown #447 challenge.

I used an image from The Cat's Pajamas Watercolor Basics set to stamp directly onto the card front in blueberry sky and green parakeet ink. After cutting the tag from hawaiian shores card stock I attached it directly to the card front also. I stamped up the sweet whale from the Reverse Confetti Seaside set using blueberry sky ink and cut him out with the matching die. I cut the MFT Fancy Flourish from green parakeet card stock and wrapped it around the whale to represent seaweed and attached to the tag with dimensional dots. After stamping the sentiment onto a kraft piece cut with a die from the Stitched Flat Trio set, I slipped it slightly underneath the whale.

Congratulations (Wedding)

We attended a lovely wedding this past weekend for one of my husband's golf buddies. Today's card is the one I made for the couple.

I cut the church from patterned paper and the windows from white card stock using the Papertrey Ink Petite Places: Church die set. I used a die from the Simon Says Small Heart Doily set for a cut out in the linen card front and then cut again from pale blue card stock, placing it inside the cut out. I stamped the sentiment from the Petite Places: Church mini stamp set in smoke ink and attached the mini church to the card front using foam tape. And yes, it is super simple because I always seem to wait until the last minute to make a wedding card. But hey, I guess simple is my style anyway! Sorry for the dark-ish photo but I took it in the afternoon and that never seems to work.

Products: Papertrey Ink stamps and dies, PTI and Recollections cs, Simon Says die and ink

Have a great weekend!

{The Cat's Pajamas} TCP Tuesday #336

Have you heard? The TCP Tuesday challenge now runs for an entire month which gives you plenty of time to join in on the fun. The theme is Sand, Sea and Sky for a chance to win a $50 voucher.

I definitely went wth a sea and a bit of sky for my card. I started out by cutting the "sea" from patterned paper using the new Beaches CutUps.  I then stamped and colored up the bunny from the Aye, Aye Captain set. After fussy cutting out, including some slits around the oar, I slipped the image slightly underneath the sea. The sentiment was stamped directly onto the card base using hawaiian shores ink. I cut out the frame from orange card stock using the County Fair CutUps. I cut out the lower banner and the grass portion and attached to the card cutting a space for the sentiment to show through. Patterned paper banner pieces and sun from the same die set and a small cloud cut with the Stitched Fly CutUps fnished it up.

Tag You're It #72 - Week 2

As you have probably clued in by the graphic above, I am guest designing for the Tag You're It challenge this month.

Lindsey Larsen is the featured artist this month and just look at that pretty tag she made as the challenge inspiration.

I loved the rectangular shape in white so I started out by cutting a tag from plain white card stock using the Papertrey Ink Tag Sale: Quilted die. I also loved the lacy background but I didn't have any dies to emulate that look so I used the largest die from the Paper Smooches Roses Die set for the cut out, then cutting again from harvest gold card stock. I backed the rose with a water colored piece. The sentiment from the Inspired: Blessed Mini set was stamped in black ink directly onto the tag. I cut out the word suing the Inspired: Blessed die twice from black card stock and then once from berrylicous a drop shadow affect. After attaching the word to the tag, I added a paper bow cut from the same berrylicous card stock using a die from the Pretty Pink Posh Twine and Bows die set.

I plan on putting this on a sympathy card later.
Products: Papertrey Ink stamps and dies, Ranger, MFT and PTI cs, Paper Smooches and Pretty Pink Posh dies, Simon Says, PTI and Stampin Up inks

New Stacey Yacula "Happy Trails" Collection {Purple Onion Designs}

I have another card featuring images from the new Stacey Yacula Happy Trails collection at Purple Onion Designs.

After cutting out the tag I stamped the sand pail and shovel from the Beach Toy Set, Sandy (bathing bear), Beach Umbrella and Sand Dunes using masking where needed to create a beach scene. All the images were colored with Copic markers. I topped off the tag and then attached to a patterned paper background. After stamping the sentiment from the Sweetest Day Sentiment set using Hawaiian shores ink and the Sun in bright buttercup, I attached the tag to the card front for a very mail friendly card.

Introducing the New Purple Onion Designs "Happy Trails" by Stacey Yacula

The new Stacey Yacula collection is available TODAY in the Purple Onion Designs shop.  There is special pricing of a flat $120 for the entire Happy Trails stamp collection until June 11 which represents over a 30% discount (does not include the sentiment set). Of course you can also purchase individually. In addition to the Happy Trails set there is also another small collection Once Upon a Time which is also on special for $15.

Today's card features the new Up and Away image. What is it about the sight of a hot air balloon that just makes you stop in your tracks and stare in wonder? Mind you, I don't particularly want to ride in one but I sure love seeing them. As you can see, this cute little bunny and mouse are much braver than me. After coloring the image with Copic markers, I masked the image and created the pink cloud background with a stencil and Spun Sugar Distress ink. The sentiment is from The Sweetest Day Sentiment set.
