Heart Flower {Purple Onion Designs Sale}

It is Purple Onion Designs 14th anniversary and to celebrate Michele is offering 25% off all stamps. But you need to hurry up because the sale ends tomorrow August 16.

I stamped the Heart Flower onto watercolor cardstock then watercolored it with Zig Kuretake Clean Color brushes. After the piece dried, I cut out with a die from the My Favorite Things Blueprints 22 set. I cut a frame from patterned paper and then two more times from plain white cardstock by nesting two stitched dies together. I stacked the frames and attached to the panel framing the flower. The butterfly from the Net, Butterfly and Bee set were  stamped twice onto a tag cut with a die from the the Lawn Fawn Tiny Sayings set. After coloring the butterflies with Copic markers, I added a cording bow in the tag hole.

Gracious Words

Today's card is for the August Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge. I am so happy Julee decided to bring this challenge back as it has always been a favorite. And although they aren't required, it encourages me to get out those Verve stamps which are also a favorite.

The faith Friday verse is from Proverbs 16:24:

Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.

I need to have this verse imprinted on my brain because it is a reminder that we all need to speak more kindly to one another.

As per usual I had to break down the sketch to its simplest form to better suit my CAS style. I started out by creating watercolor stripes using a wide brush onto watercolor cardstock in blueberry sky, bright buttercup and new leaf inks. I then stamped the verse from the Verve Proverbs 16:24 stamp which is now retired along with a small bee image from the The Buzz set. I cut out the watercolored panel with a wonky stitched die. I then stamped the large bee from the The Buzz set onto Copic X-Press It cardstock, cut out with the matching die, then colored with Copic Markers. I also used the honeycomb die from the same set and cut it twice from yellow cardstock. After layering the two honeycomb diecuts, I attached it and the bee image to the panel.

Products: Verve stamps and dies, Master's Touch, Bazzill and PTI cs, Simon Says and PTI ink

Have a blessed day and weekend.

Bird on a String {Purple Onion Designs Sale}

It is Purple Onion Designs anniversary and to celebrate Michele is offering 25% off all stamps through August 16. What a great way to celebrate 14 years in business.

I stamped the Hearts on a String image onto a rectangle Neenah card stock piece and then cut out a portion of it with the Reverse Confetti Topped Off Tag die, coloring across both pieces with Copic markers. I stamped Peep onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copics, fussy out and attached to the tag with foam tape. I attached the cutout piece to the card front and after adding the tag topper with a die from the Reverse Confetti Squared Off Tag Topper set and hang up cut with a die from the Hang Ups set, I attached the tag matching it up with the cutout piece using foam tape. The sentiment from the Sweet Occasions set was stamped onto a cloud piece cut with the Papertrey Ink Cloud 1 & 2 set.

TCP Tuesday #338 Challenge

The TCP Tuesday challenge at The Cat's Pajamas is going strong. The theme this month is How Does Your Garden Grow?

I have two cards today that look remarkably alike. I created the first one with the watering can, decided I didn't like the watering can on it so I created another without it. But then after looking again I decided the watering can looked ok. The hubster even said that he liked it the best. Not that i am going by his taste. If I did we would have a red plaid couch, an orange chair and a purple ottoman sitting all in front of a TV the size of Connecticut.

I stamped the solid flower image from the Sketchy Flowers set three times along the edges of Neenah cardstock rectangle using pale peony ink and the outline leaves in black. I colored the leaves and the added more color to the flower petals with Copic Markers, then offset stamped over the solid flower with the outline stamp. I masked one of the flowers and stamped the watering can image from the What's Up Gnomie? set. After coloring the image, I stamped the sentiment from the Simply Stacked Sentiments set. Lastly I stamped an image from the Watercolor Basics all around the flowers and leaves. The image panel was attached to the card base with a layer of craft foam.

For second version, I essentially did the same thing adding a few more leaves, eliminating the watering can image and moving the sentiment down.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps, Neenah and PTI cs, MFT and PTI ink, Copic Markers

Happy Birthday Purple Onion Designs!!

It is Purple Onion Designs anniversary and to celebrate Michele is offering 25% off all stamps through August 16.

And to go along with the birthday theme I created a woodland creature birthday card. I started out by watercoloring the background using Ranger Distress ink in Tumbled Glass and Mowed Lawn . While it dried I stamped the party animals Sunny (bird), Joey (raccoon), Bubbly (bear with sparkler removed), Charlotte (mouse), Milly (hedgehog), the banner from the Wagon stamp and Balloon (from the Balloon, Party Hat and Kite set), colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out. After diecutting the watercolored piece with a stitched rectangle die, I stamped the sentiment from the Journey Sentiment set plus the mouse and balloon so I would not have to fussy cut out the balloon string and the mouse tail. I attached the images using a combo of glue and foam tape for dimension.

Products: Purple Onion Designs stamps. Ranger and PTI cs, Lil Inker Designs die, Ranger Distress, MFT and Simon Says inks, Copic Markers
Copics: Bird-B41, B34, B34, W00, E81, YR30, YR31, Y11, Y15; Balloon-R20, R22, R24, R27; Raccoon-W00, E81, C00C1, C3, C5, R20, B21, B23, B26, Y0000, Y11, Y15, E21, E23, E25; Bear-E50, E51, E53, B41, B32, R20; Mouse-W00, E81, R20, R20, R22, R24; Hedgehog-W00, E81, W00, W1. W2, W5

Under His Wings

It is Faith Friday on the blog and since I've been collecting the Papertrey Ink Year of Psalms stamps since they introduced them this year, I thought it was time I actually got one of them inky. Today's card features the March Year of Psalms set.

I love the Psalm 91:4 verse:

He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

I cut a stitched rectangle from Strathmore watercolor cardstock and then masked off the edges in order to retain a white border. I used the Ranger mini ink blending tool to add scattered straw and tumbled glass distress ink, then added some water and more ink with a wet paint brush. After the piece dried completely I stamped the swirl and sentiment with dark chocolate ink. After attaching the sentiment panel to the card base, I secured a feather cut with a die from a retired My Favorite things set and a leaf from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves set to the card front, then wrapped some raffia around the top edge and tied off onto a button.

Products: Papertrey ink stamp, Bazzill and Strathmore cs, PTI button, Lil Inker Designs, MFT and Lawn Fawn dies, Ranger Distress and Simon Says ink

Thank you for stopping by. Have a blessed day and weekend.
