{Reminder}The Cat's Pajamas Challenge #367

A reminder that The Cat's Pajamas April Challenge to Share Hope is going strong and there is plenty of time to get a project submitted for a chance at a $50 gift voucher to The Cat's Pajamas store. TCP products are not required to participate but we love, love, love when you use our stamps, dies and stencils.

My Share Hope cards are all being mailed as soon as I complete them to some special people who need a little pick me up while we shelter in place. I am sure you know someone who would appreciate a bright and cheerful handmade card and that is what this challenge is all about. I cut a rectangle from linen cardstock piece using a stitched die. I then cut it into two pieces cutting away  approximately an inch of the piece. I stamped the image from the Grab the Unicorn set on the largest cut piece and then colored with Copic markers. After adhering the patterned paper to the card base I attached the two card front pieces using a layer of craft foam. The sentiment was stamped onto a plain cardstock piece and then attached to the card front also. A "sun" cut from yellow cardstock with a die from the County Fair CutUps then anchored with a tiny rainbow clay bit finished it up.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and die, Honey Bee dp and clay embellishment, PTI and MFT cs, Altenew ink, Copic Markers

Today's card features one of the seven new sets from illustrator Julian Charlton (@juliancharlton) here at Purple Onion Designs. The entire collection is available to purchase now.

Lottie's Gang - Birthday Squad was stamped onto a Neenah cardstock piece, then after masking the largest pig, the Spring Fence was stamped. I also stamped the clouds from the previously released Happy Skies set. After coloring the piece with Copic Markers, I cut a frame from harvest gold cardstock using by sandwiching two stitched dies together, then another skinny frame from berrylicous cardstock. One of the sentiments from the set was stamped using gala red ink and the main sentiment onto a small fishtail tag using black. I also cut the tag again from berrylicous and green parakeet, fanned the three pieces together and tied with cording.

Happy Thoughts of You

It isn't often that I get to participate in challenges other than for my design teams but this period of staying home to stay healthy does give me some more time to be creative. Just trying to look on the bright side of things.

I stamped the Purple Onion Designs Chloe (bunny) and Charlotte (mouse) onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copic markers then fussy cut out. For the background I first used a stitched circle to create a cutout from linen cardstock. For the cutout portion, I used The Cat's Pajamas Great Outdoors stencil with tumbled glass ink to create the clouds. I used another die to cut the grassy area from patterned paper. The images were attached with foam dots as was the sentiment from the Sweet Summer Sentiment set. The butterfly from the Scattered Flowers & Hush (butterfly) was stamped directly onto the cutout piece and also colored with Copic markers. All the images were illustrated by Stacey Yacula for Purple Onion Designs. I generally followed the sketch for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #484 for the layout.

God Made Rainbows

I have another card to be sent to someone who needs hope and cheer during this stressful time in our lives.

I started with the Reverse Confetti Scallop Window Tag which I used to cut diagonally from rainbow colored paper from the Cheerful & Kind pad. I created a window by using the scalloped center portion of the die, then stamped the sentiment from the Perfect Timing set onto white cardstock, then layered it with the rainbow tag. I used marigold twine to tie a bow in the tag hole. For the border I adhered more patterned paper from the same pad along the bottom of the card front. Finally I added a small circle to represent the sun behind a cloud cut with a die from The Cat's Pajamas Stitched Clouds set.

Products: Reverse Confetti stamps and dies, Reverse Confetti dp, PTI cs, The Twinery twine, The Cat's Pajamas die, Altenew ink

Today's card features another new set from illustrator Julian Charlton (@juliancharlton) here at Purple Onion Designs. The entire 7 set collection is available to purchase now.

After stamping the new Elliot and Marcel-Hugs image onto Copics X-Press It, I colored with Copic markers, then fussy cut out. I prepared the background by cutting a stitched rectangle from sea salt cardstock. I used stitched circles in three different sizes to create cutouts and then backed with patterned paper. *New* Lottie's Gang - Hugs {Purple Onion Designs}

Hello everyone. I am so happy to have a hobby that I can do inside during this shelter-in-place order. Are you making more cards than you normally do? Or are you busy home schooling and cooking? I do keep my granddaughters either 2 or 3 days per week as both their parents are considered essential. I am currently teaching the 11 year how to color with Copics. The 6 year old gets paints, glue and catalogs she can cut up for some very interesting collages 😃.

Today's card features one of the seven new sets from illustrator Julian Charlton (@juliancharlton) here at Purple Onion Designs. The entire collection is available to purchase now.

After stamping the new Lottie's Gang-Hugs image onto Copics X-Press It using espresso truffle ink, I colored with Copic markers, then fussy cut out. I also stamped the same image again onto a Neenah cardstock stitched rectangle piece using cotton candy ink to help with positioning as well as having cute pink tails for the piggies, then stamped the sentiment using espresso truffle ink. After cutting a circle out, I blended sno cone ink around the edges and attached the piece to a patterned paper background using a layer of craft foam, then attached the colored image and clouds inside the cutout which came from the previously released Happy Skies set.

Products: Purple Onion Designs stamps, Avery Elle dp, PTI cs, Honey Bee wood hearts, Simon Says, MFT and Memento ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Pigs-E0000, E00, E01, R00, R01; Fox-W00, E81, E11, E13, E15; (Lottie) Skin-E0000, E00, E11, R20; Hair-E30, E33, E35, E37; Dress-B0000, B000, B01

TCP Tuesday April #367 Challenge

The April TCP Tuesday challenge theme is Share Hope. As cardmakers we have the opportunity to spread cheer and encouragement during this very difficult time in our world.  TCP products are not required to participate although we love seeing you use our stamps and dies. You have until the end of the month to complete a project and an added bonus is the $50 gift voucher some lucky artist has a chance to win.

The flowers from the new Still Life Bundle set were actually created when I made the sneak peeks cards here. That was a day of so much bad news that I turned off the television and took my frustrations on stamping, diecutting and coloring flowers. Even with my fourth card using this set I still have some left over. I placed them onto a patterned piece cut with a die from the Scalloped Duo Die. The sentiment from the Grab the Unicorn set was stamped onto the new Liners Too CutUps

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and dies, Avery Elle dp, PTI and Master's Touch cs, MFT ink, Karin Brushmarker Pro
Karins: Flowers-Red 209, Magenta 359, Gold 283, Canary 166; Leaves-Grass 253

Here are the details for the TCP Challenge:
  • Each month a new challenge will be posted on The Cat’s Pajamas blog and our Facebook page.
  • If you want to play along you just upload your design to The Cat’s Pajamas blog page using the InLinkz button provided.
  • You are not required to use a Cat’s Pajamas stamp or die but if you have them we would love to see them.
  • On the day of the next challenge the winner will be chosen from the previous challenge and will receive a Cat Cash Voucher for $50.

We are all in this together so please use your talents to let people know that you are thinking of them by mailing out the cards you make for this challenge.

The Cat's Pajamas April Release Blog Hop

It is release day at The Cat's Pajamas. There are 6 new stamp sets and 5 new die sets in this release, three of those that coordinate with three of the stamp sets.  The matching stamp and sets will be available to select separately or as a bundle with special pricing. There is additional discounting known in the TCP world as the Kitty Kat or Poochie Pack.

We are celebrating the release with a blog hop. If you arrived here from the very creative Julee's blog you are in the right place as she is the beginning of the hop.

I created a simple Easter card using the Still Life Bundle. I used one of the vase dies from the set to cut the vase from patterned paper. The palms were from the stamp set were stamped with olive grove ink, colored with Copic markers, then cut with the matching die. The vase of palm leaves were attached to a stone stitched circle using foam dots for dimension. The sentiment from the Follow the Bunny set was stamped using pistachio ink. A patterned paper border finished it up.

{The Cat's Pajamas Sneak Peek} Spotlight on the New Dies

It's the last day of The Cat's Pajamas Sneak PeeksThere are 6 new stamp sets and 5 new die sets in this release. Three die sets coordinate with three of the stamp sets and will be available to purchase separately or as a bundle with special pricing.  All the new products will be available for purchase as revealed throughout the week with the full release on April 7 at which time there will be additional discounting known in the TCP world as the Kitty Kat or Poochie Pack.

I cut two tags from white cardstock using a die from the Holiday Window Duo set, then used the inlaid die method with the new Best Wishes die. I also used one of the dies from the new Liners Too set although I used it to add the recipient's name rather than as a sentiment strip. I backed the tag with the second plain tag, then added few sequins and baker's twine in the tag hole.

{The Cat's Pajamas Sneak Peek} Silly Numbers

It's another day of The Cat's Pajamas Sneak PeeksThere are 6 new stamp sets and 5 new die sets in this release.

I decided to combine the new Silly Numbers Bundle set with the new Let There Be Cake Bundle for an 80th birthday card. I randomly stamped the numbers onto white cardstock using soft stone ink for a very subtle background. Two of the numbers wer stamped using pure poppy ink and cut with the matching dies. All the pieces of the cake, banner and stand were stamped and cut using the new Let There Be Cake Bundle using summer sunrise for the candles, the cake layers in simply chartreuse, pure poppy, blueberry sky and vanilla cream, the banner in blueberry sky and the footed plate in hawaiian shores. All the images were then attached with foam dots and a few sequins finished up the festive cake.
