To Grandma's House We Go

***Please scroll to the next post for my Sweet November preview***

I had this image colored for several weeks now but not yet made a card. In actuality I got a little emotional about it as the image reminds me of the house where my grandmother lived and passed away so I deliberately put it away for a while. Even after 10 years, every time I drive up to the house to visit my aunt part of me expects to see my granny there too. The November My Favorite Things Guest Designer (MFTGUESTDT1111) contest was the perfect excuse to finally get it completed.

I stamped the house image from the My Favorite Things Inspired by Winter set, masked it and then stamped the trees in the background. After coloring with Copics, I popped the stamped piece back in the Spellbinders die so I could ink around the images with Sky Blue ink and then applied a mixture of Ranger Stickles and white Flowersoft to represent snow. Since the GDT challenge was to "bling it on", in addition to the sparkly snow I added a snowflake cut with the My Favorite Things Snowflake Trio and then attached with an oversized red pearl brad. I added a pearl swirl to represent the smoke coming out of the chimney because you know that fire has to be going on a cold day. I finished it off with two rows of white pearls in place of my usual ribbon. The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Jovial 6x6 pad from last year.
