Day 3 Verve Holiday Release Spotlight Hop

Welcome back to Day 3 of Verve's November 2014 Spotlight Hops!  The Verve Divas and special guests are back for another day of spotlighting the new holiday release! And the wait is almost over... everything previewed this week will be available in the Verve online store tomorrow (Thursday, 11/20). So come hop along with us and see our first looks at today's featured products!

If you have come here from Christyne's blog you are right on track. If you just happened up on the Hop, you can follow the list below to get caught up.

Today's spotlight is shining on the Weary World set and Psalm 119:105 Plain Jane illustrated by Julee Tilman, as well as the coordinating Starry Stable Die Set.

I have two cards for you today as one of the Guest Designers for this release.

First up is a card using the new Weary World stamp set. I stamped the sentiment from the set onto a piece cut with a die from the A Cut Above Cupcake Frame set and then another sentiment from the set directly onto the background panel. I cut the cross from the Starry Stable Die Set and then stamped the cross image from the Weary World set onto it with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing powder. I cut the image panel from red metallic cardstock and then added a strip of Mirrored gold cardstock, rounding the corners with a corner chomper. After attaching the images to it, I wrapped white satin ribbon around it and tied into a bow. I attached to the background with dimensional tape and added a mini clothespin at the top. A few red rhinestones finished it up.  I have to say that I loved these metallic papers until I had to photograph my card! It was so hard to get a decent one - most of the them looked like I had used two reds and two different golds which is why I have to say that this card looks better in real life.

My second card features the Psalm 119:105 Plain Jane. Although not necessarily a Christmas verse, I decided to treat it as such with subdued colors. I wanted to illustrate the dark to the light message so I used a combination of light blue and charcoal gray cardstock for the background panel. I stamped the verse onto a tag cut with the A Cut Above Tagged Rectangle Die and then added a pearl matted with a white sequin at the top, attaching to the panel with dimensional tape. I stamped the candle image from the new Pinecone Christmas onto a circle and then colored with Copic Markers, also attaching with dimensional tape and offsetting with a trio of pearls. I added a bit more "light" with a star cut with a die from the Starry Stable Die Set and another strip from the same glittery cardstock, along with messy silver thread underneath the small tab.
