My Favorite 2014 Projects

I hope your Christmas or Hanukkah celebrations were everything you wanted them to be. Our Christmas was lovely, filled with family, a beautiful candlelight Christmas Eve service at our church, a bit of chaos, great food, adult beverages, movies and laughter. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Unfortunately there hasn't been much crafting going on around here. Everything you have seen on my blog since around the first week in December was completed and set up for automatic blog posting. I craft out of my dining room so everything had to be stored away for the holidays. I say every year that I am going to store in a more organized manner but as per usual I stuck it anywhere I could find a place, a closet, attic, cabinet, under the bed, etc. It will take me the entire month of January to get it all back where I need it!

Before I look ahead to 2015, I would like to share fourteen of my favorite 2014 projects with you.

First up are my favorite Design Team projects featuring The Cat's PajamasPurple Onion Designs, Sugar Nellie and a former one, C.C. Designs stamps.

Sugar Nellie Time for Walkies

Today's card features a Sugar Nellie digital image from the All Dressed Up collection. I printed Time for Walkies onto Copic X-Press It cardstock and then cut out with a Lil Inker Designs stitched mat die. After coloring with Copic Markers, I combined this little beauty with patterned papers from the American Crafts Soho Gardens pad. I cut two pieces from white card stock using the Reverse Confetti Circles 'n Scallops dies and than stamped the sentiment from the Reverse Confetti Roundabout Additions onto the smaller circle using Stampin' Up Daffodil Delight ink. I offset the the two pieces and then added a button and several enamel dots.

Products: Sugar Nellie digital stamp, American Crafts dp, Doodlebug enamel dots, Reverse Confetti, MFT and Lil Inker Designs dies, Copic Markers
Copics: Skin-E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20; Hair-E21, E23, E25, E27, E29; Coat/Boots-E40, E41, E42, E44; Leggings-B32, B34, B39; Scarf/Hat-YR30, Y11, Y15, Y26, W00, E81; Dog-E30, E31, E33, E35; Ground-C00, C1, C3; Shadows-B0000, B000

The Sugar Bowl "Anything Goes" January Challenge

Today's card is for The Sugar Bowl January "Anything Goes" challenge.

I printed the Sugar Nellie Furry Friends Gift Wrapped digital stamp onto Copics X-Press It cardstock and then cut with a My Favorite Things Pierced die. After coloring with Copic Markers, I combined with patterned papers from an older Echo Park Yours Truly pad. I wrapped black Hemptique cord twice around the background panel and tied with a button, then slipped a small heart partially underneath the button for a sweet Valentine's Day card.

Products: Sugar Nellie digital stamp, Echo Park dp, PTI button, Hemptique twine, MFT Die-namics, Reverse Confetti die, Copic Markers
Dog-C00, C1, C3, C5, C7; Gift-W00, E81, R22, R24, R27, R59

It's easy enough to join the challenge. You must use a Sugar Nellie image for your anything goes challenge and link The Sugar Bowl blog to your post. There is a fabulous prize involved so pop on over to The Sugar Bowl blog to get all the details.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

All I Want for Christmas is.....

I have one last Christmas card that I made for a family member who is a huge University of Alabama fan. Actually we all are! If you are a college football fan you know (and probably hate) that Alabama is often right in the mix to win the National Championship. And despite this year supposedly being a rebuilding year, Bama is in the first college playoff. This may not be the most talented team they have ever had but their perseverance and heart have made up for it.

I specifically bought this Wild Rose Studio Bella on Bauble stamp because I thought it would be perfect for a Bama fan. I cut the image out with a MFT pierced die and then colored with Copic Markers. I combined it with patterned papers from my old 12x12 stash - the houndstooth pattern figures prominently in the Alabama Crimson Tide apparel.

For the inside of the card, I found the houndstooth stocking image from the internet, stamping the Dear Santa sentiment from a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp and computer generated the rest of it.

Products: Wild Rose Studio stamp, Stampin' Up cs, PTI cs and button, MFT Die-namics, Copic Markers
Copics: W00, E81, C00, C1, C3, C5, R0000, R81, R22, R24, R27, R46, R59

Are you ready for Christmas? I still have some cleaning to do but other than that I am good to go.

Christmas Tags and Footprints #14

Welcome to tag #14 which is also the last one of Christmas Tags and Footprints series.

This year I thought it would be fun to give cozy socks for the females and warm work socks for the guys in the family who will be celebrating Christmas with us in addition to their big gift. Each set will have a handmade tag along with a small inexpensive gift (under $5) inside one of the socks.

I cut two tags and a tag topper from white and chartreuse cardstock using the Wplus9 Timeless Tags 2 Die. I stamped the various images from the WPlus9 Silver Bells stamps set onto the matching pieces cut with the Wplus9 Silver Bells Die set using silver ink (bells), red (bow) and green (greenery). I grouped together the images on the tag attaching with dimensional dots and glue. The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in purple and I tied the two tags together with a ribbon bow.

And here it is attached to the socks:

Other Products:
PTI Stamper's Select White  and Simply Chartreuse cs
May Arts Ribbon
Delicata Silver Shimmer ink
MFT Sour Apple ink
Ranger Vermillion Archival ink
Studio Calico Purple Rain ink

I've had several emails about this series and although I have already responded to them I thought I would answer the most common ones here.

First of all, although the socks were different colors (the girls anyway) I wanted to keep some continuity to all of them. I made the tag colors the same (chartruese and white) and also included the color red on all of them even it it was small amount like the sentiment. I also used the same ribbon when I attached them to the sock.

As for the socks and gifts inside, I purchased the cozy socks at T.J. Maxx. They were in packs of two for $6 and were infused with a lavender scent. The men's were less expensive and I bought one pack for all of them. All of the men got a miniature (liquor) except one and all the females got a Burt's Bees tube of lip balm. For my six year old, I added some cute Disney Frozen adjustable rings and another pair of socks. For the baby, I just placed more socks inside. It was necessary to keep costs down because 12 of the recipients would be getting a "big" gift also.

I hope you have enjoyed the tag series! Thank you for hanging in there with me!
