12 Days of Christmas: My step-granddaughters in North Carolina at age 8 and 10 are right on the cusp of no longer believing in Santa Claus. Twelve days of small packages arriving in the mail will {I hope} help keep Christmas a magical time for just a little longer. It's purely for fun and not really about the gifts.
Today we are previewing Snow Day. The big eared bunny is back and this time he's neck deep in snow balls. And brrr.....the first day of Christmas gift includes Hot Chocolate packs along with some marshmallows and a candy cane to warm things up. I was more inspired by the colors in the inspiration piece so I started out by stamping and coloring the bunny in soft color tones. I created a pocket using colors from Jen's photos using the width of the glassine envie as a guideline.
Do you spy something else new in the photo above? Yessss......the new Snowflake Lace Paper CutUps. Here is the assembled pocket.
Now to the Snowflake Paper Lace.....the Cat Packers really hope you like it because we all want Alma to make a whole series of these! I cut one the minute I received my design team package and even my husband was impressed when I showed it to him. I did have to run it through my Big Shot a couple of times to ensure through and through cuts. And unlike all the doily dies, the resulting cutouts are not wasted as you get three different sizes of snowflakes to use. I adhered my stamped bunny to the lace paper and then inserted three of the snowflakes back in to their slots. After adhering the piece to the front of the pocket, I then decorated with pearls. Here is a closeup view.
I used the circle from the Sunflower Rosettes die to cut a big notch at the top of the pocket and then added a soft bow using Cream seam binding tying a name tag to it. After placing the hot chocolate packs and candy inside the glassine envie, I folded over the top and then added the "1st" piece using the 12 days paper from the Authentique Wonder pad and the sentiment with a small clothes pin. The sentiment and name tags were cut using the banner strip from the Easy Rosette CutUps. I added a clear bag of miniature marshmallows to complete the gift set.
After finishing the first one I repeated the pocket with different paper while staying within the same color scheme of the inspiration piece. I used yet another new CutUps, the Anywhere Ribbon Slide at the top front of the pocket and then after assembling I threaded through some Silver seam binding (which is new color for this release), ending with a bow. I created a garland by using the snowflakes from the Snowflake Lace Paper from the first project and Linen Thread. After adhering the stamped pieced to the pocket, I stamped the sentiment directly onto the paper. I attached the "1st" tag to the glassine envie with a stickpin and then added the bag of marshmallows as the last step.
