The Hop to Stop

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and I am participating in The Hop to Stop which is designed to raise awareness about domestic violence, an issue that impacts 1 in 4 women.

For more information about domestic violence, its impacts, and available resources, visit the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence.

Do I think a simple blog hop helps? In and of itself, no. But it does bring awareness to a cause you may know very little about. And hopefully, it motivates you to donate to a local women's shelter. I have decided to donate to this organization located in my state/county of residence, Safehouse of Shelby County. Seriously, there is no amount too small to donate.

I first cut the frame from dark purple textured card stock using The Cat's Pajamas Stitched Fly die and then again from Wild Wisteria card stock, glued them together and then layered both onto the white card base. I stamped the sentiment from the I Are Fun stamp set inside the frame using Purple Rain ink. I then stamped the image from the same TCP set, colored with Copic Markers, fussy cut out and attached to the prepared background with dimensional dots. A couple of buttons finished up a card of encouragement.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and die, PTI, Co-ordinations and MFT cs, Doodlebug enamel dots, Studio Calico ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Bear-W00, E81, E50, E51, E53; Balloons-V12, V15, V17, BV000, BV00, BV11, YG000, YG01, YG13, YR30, Y11, YR31

If you want to participate, create a card featuring the color purple which is the domestic violence awareness color, and link it up on Becca Dawn's blog October 1-14. There is no limit to how many cards you link and there are many prizes up for grabs. You may also send your creations directly to Becca as she has arranged to donate them to a shelter in her city (blank inside preferred).

This is also the first day of The Daily Maker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I am giving this one a go this time around. I will be posting on instagram, not here on the blog unless it is a fully completed card, then I will post in both places. FYI, I am @nancyhthomas on instagram.
