2014 Christmas in July #15

I am back with my final Christmas in July card, using another Purple Onion Designs stamp from my not yet used box. I think #15 is a nice number to end on.

I stamped Snowy with My Favorite Things ink onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copics and then fussy cut out.  I then cut the tag set from patterned paper using the Papertrey Ink Tag Sale #10 from papers I prepared the card base using the border from the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (Charles) set and then tied the tag onto the base with Hemptique Cord. The sentiment came from the Purple Onion Designs Mini Sentiment Set that I've had for years. After attaching the stamped image with dimensional dots, I finished it up with a few Doodlebug sequins. The patterned papers came from the My Mind's Eye Winter Wonderland pad.

I hope I've inspired you to get started on your handmade Christmas cards. Let me tell you there are definitely some people who don't really appreciate them but I can also assure you that there some who do. My husband's uncle passed away a few weeks ago. We were able to visit with him a few days before and although he was under hospice care, he was having a good day that day. He told each of us how he felt about us one on one. I won't tell you everything he said to me but I will share that he said how much he had always looked forward to my Christmas card and the he always saved his card all year until he got a new one. I can't tell you how that warmed my heart.

2014 Christmas in July #14

I have Christmas in July card # 14 today, featuring images from the Mama Elephant Winter Wonderland set. I cut a square panel using Spellbinders Nestabilities and stamped the two deer images plus the antlers with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. The sentiment was stamped with Simon Says Schoolhouse Red, then the stars with Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink. After stamping the trees directly on the background panel using Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Distress ink I added a bird cut with a Papertrey Ink In the Meadows Silhouette die and a few Darice sequins as embellishments.

Have a great day!

2014 Christmas in July #13

I am back with another Christmas in July card, using another Purple Onion Designs stamp from my not yet used box.

I stamped Birch with My Favorite Things ink onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copics and then fussy cut out. I combined him with a sled cut with my Silhouette from the Sled and Sprig set. I cut the "sprig" portion of the set but really couldn't find a way to work it into my design so I will save it for another card. I replaced it with two lacy branches cut with an older Martha Stewart Branch Punch then topped off with a small snowflake. The card base was embossed with a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and the sentiment from the Papertrey Ink Signature Christmas was stamped with Simon Says Schoolhouse Red ink. The patterned papers came from a trio of paper pads, My Mind's Eye Necessities Wood (sled), Authentique Festive (sled and sentiment flag) and Teresa Collins Santa's List (background panel).

I hope all is well with you. See you back here soon.

Vellum Floral Birthday

Today's tag/card combination is for the Tag You're It #2 challenge. And since I was inspired by the vellum on the featured tag I am also submitting this for the current Catered Crop Vellum Recipe Swap.

I created the tag with the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duo 1 tag die, using the inlaid die cut technique with the patterned paper "windows". I cut the flower from Doodlebug Lily White Sprinkles vellum using the My Favorite Things Hybrid Camellia Flower Die-namics. I combined it with a flourish and tiny butterfly cut from Raspberry Fizz cardstock using The Cat's Pajamas Heart Swirl and Butterflies CutUps. The sentiment came from The Cat's Pajamas Simply Said set and was stamped with Memento Rose Bud ink. The patterned paper came from the Fancy Pants Me-ology pad.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas Stamp and CutUps, Fancy Pants dp, Stampin' Up cs, PTI cs and button, Pretty Pink Posh die, My Favorite Things Die-namics,Memento ink

I've been working with Christmas colors so much this month that it was fun to get back to the colors I really love. Don't get me wrong, I love the colors of Christmas too but only in smaller doses!

Summer Sale at The Cat's Pajamas

If you need to stock up on some fabulous The Cat's Pajamas stamps now is the perfect time!

2014 Christmas in July #12

Today's Christmas in July card #12 features a set of tags that I actually made last year for a feature on the C.C. Designs blog. I had these three leftover so I decided to use them on a card.

The tags were hand cut from Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock and then embossed with a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder  A matted patterned paper panel was attached to each tag and a button and ribbon snippet was added to the top. I stamped the three images from the C.C. Designs Sweet Penquins set, cut them out with Spellbinders Nestabilities and then colored with Copic Markers. Each tag was decorated with one of the images along with a Christmas icon using the C.C. Designs Christmas Accessories Cutters and Holly and Berry Cutters cut from American Crafts Glitter paper attached with dimensional dots. The sentiments from the AmyR Christmas Sentiments II set was stamped onto ticket shaped cardstock cut with the smallest shape from the Ticket Cutters set. The tags were finished up with Darice Sequins and Ruby Red Liquid Pearls for the holly berries. Since the tags were so detailed I just added a plain strip of patterned paper matted with Papertrey Ink New Leaf Cardstock onto the 3.75 x 7.5 inch card base. All the patterned paper came from the Doodlebug North Pole and Home for the Holidays pads.

Have a great weekend!

2 Corinthians 12:9

I combined two Verve challenges including the July Diva Dare Inside Out Challenge to decorate the inside of today's card also and the Viva la Verve Week 3 Sketch for the layout. I just got some new Verve stamps in the mail last week and couldn't wait to get one of them inky.

I stamped the new 2 Corinthians 12:9 onto a circle using Simon Says Black ink and then followed the sketch closely using patterned papers from the Teresa Collins Urban Market pad. I substituted the butterfly with a button tied with Hemptique cord and then added some matching Urban Market sequins.

For the inside of the card I stamped the cross and sentiment from the Faith Medley set onto a matted rectangle, inserting the patterned paper banner shapes between the sentiment panel and mat. Finally, I added a Prima embellishment to the center of the cross. I will be giving this card to a fellow church member who recently received some devastating health news.

2014 Christmas in July #11

Today's card represents Christmas in July # 11 and I created for this week's Merry Monday Challenge (#118) to use ribbons and bows.

I cut the tag using Papertrey Ink Tag Sale #1 die then stamped three trees from the My Favorite Things Inspired by Winter (retired) using Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. I cut the snow banks with a piece from The Cat's Pajamas Holiday Toppers CutUps and then embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.  I cut the tree from wood grained patterned paper from the My Mind's Eye Necessities Wood pad using the My Favorite Things Sheltering Tree and Leaf Trio Die-namics and the lacy branch from card stock using an older Martha Stewart Branch Punch, I inserted them in between the "snow banks" and then added two red birds to the tree branches that were cut with dies from the Papertrey Ink In the Meadows Silhouette set. I stamped the bunny from the Lawn Fawn Hello Baby set, colored with Copics and fussy cut out. I attached it to the tag scene using dimensional dots and then tied an Offray gingham bow through the tag hole. I attached the tag to kraft card stock panel cut with a Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mat anchored by a button tied with Hemptique Cord. The sentiment is a Verve freebie and was stamped with Simon Says Dark Chocolate ink.

Happy Hump Day!

Friends are Like Flowers - TCP Tuesday Anything Goes Challenge

It's time for another TCP Tuesday challenge. This week is an easy one - anything goes and runs for two weeks.

I stamped the image from the Simple Blooms set using Tim Holtz Mini Distress Inks (Barn Door and Peeled Paint) onto a piece cut with the matching Cutables. I stamped the sentiment onto a circle cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities and then attached the floral image to it with dimensional dots. I used a Cuttlebug embossing border folder from the Charles set on the background and then wrapped Hemptique cord around it. A smattering of sequins finished it up. I am really loving the clean and simple cards these days.

Happy Bird-day

Today's clean and simple card is for the July Reverse Confetti Color Challenge. The colors of coral, aqua and lime seemed perfect to go with the new Fabulous Flamingo stamp set. I stamped the flamingo body with Stampin' Up Crisp Cantaloupe ink, the eye/beak and legs with Simon Says Black and the wing with Stampin' Up Blushing Bride. I fussy cut out the legs but used the matching Fabulous Flamingo Confetti Cuts to cut out the body and wings. I attached it to the scalloped piece cut with the Love Note die from Berrylicous cardstock and then layered it with the diagonal piece cut from white cardstock with the Pretty Panels die. I added the double hearts cut using the smaller  heart from the Love Note set from patterned paper scraps and then layered with a coral button tied with Hemptique cord. After stamping the sentiment directly onto card base, I added a scattering of sequins topped with pearls around the sentiment and the double hearts.

I hung the stockings with tiny Queen and Co. brads onto a branch cut from wood grained patterned paper from the My Mind's Eye Necessities Wood pad using the My Favorite Things Branch and Leaves Die-namics. The leaves and the image panel were cut from patterned papers from the Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas pad. I perched  Silver atop the branch with dimensional dots and then attached the leaves and added a few Lawn Fawn and Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

2014 Christmas in July # 9

I combined two Verve challenges including the July Diva Inspiration Challenge to use Red and White along with one other color and the Viva la Verve Week 2 Sketch for today's Christmas in July #9 card.

I also combined two stamp sets and chose gray/silver as my other color for the inspiration challenge. I stamped the snowflakes from the Holiday Treats set onto three circles cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities using My Favorite Things Wild Cherry ink. I attached them using dimensional dots and centered the snowflakes with My Mind's Eye gray jewels. I stamped the deer from the Unto Us onto a piece cut with the matching Reindeer Fun Die set with the same color and then stamped the sentiment onto a square cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities using Stampin' Up Going Gray ink (retired). I matted the sentiment square with My Favorite Things Red Hot cardstock. The chevron paper on the border strip is American Crafts POW Glitter.

2014 Christmas in July #8

Today's card represents Christmas in July #8  using Verve's July Week 1 sketch for the layout as well as the optional color challenge of Green, Teal and Aqua. It wouldn't be a stampy Christmas without using one of my very favorite stamp companies, Verve. I really appreciate that they include faith based images and sentiments within their line.

I prepared the background by cutting three strips from three different colors of American Crafts Glitter paper and secured them to the plain white cardstock background. I stamped the Verve Joy to the World image onto Copics X-Press It cardstock cut with a piece from My Favorite Things Blueprints 3 Die-namics and then colored with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers. I attached it to the rectangular piece cut with a Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mat from My Favorite Things Sno Cone cardstock. I then stamped another sentiment from the Verve Star of Wonder set at the bottom. After cutting a tab with the My Favorite Things Mini Tabs Foursome I stamped another Verve sentiment onto it. I think both the sentiment set as well as the Star of Wonder set must be retire as I couldn't find either on the site.

It's been a long time since I've had a chance to play along with the Viva la Verve sketches and I'm hoping I can get a few more done this month.

2014 Christmas in July #7

I have Christmas in July card #7 today using a Purple Onion Designs stamp from my not yet used box.

I used my Silhouette machine to faux fussy cut (Trace and Offset Function) the Doodle Frame-Christmas Trees image from Copics X-Press It and then used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to help me stamp the image onto the cut piece and colored with Copic Markers. I stamped the center tree again, colored and then fussy cut out, attaching it the original with dimensional dots. I used Ranger Glossy Accents on the ornaments and Ranger Diamond Stickles on the stars for a bit of sparkle and shine. The sentiment came from the same set and I fussy cut it out also. I created the background panel with Lil Inker Designs Stitched Rectangles. The scalloped border was cut with a die from My Favorite Things Blueprints 3 and then I added a strip of cardstock at the top faux stitched with a die from The Cat's Pajamas Toppers CutUpsAll the patterned paper came from the Lawn Fawn Peace Joy Love pad.

2014 Christmas in July #6

Today's card represents Christmas in July card number 6 created for the current Paper Smooches Sparks "Anything Goes" challenge.

I created the background circle first by cutting patterned paper from the Lily Bee Christmas Cheer pad with a Lil Inkers Stitched Mat, the snow bank from the  The Cat's Pajamas Holiday Toppers CutUps and the mat with Spellbinders Nestabilities. To create the scene from I combined two Paper Smooches stamp sets today using the tree from the Autumn Groves set and the snowman and bird from the Warm Hearts set stamped with My Favorite Things Black Licorice ink. I colored all the images with Copics and then fussy cut out. I attached to the circle, using dimensional dots underneath the bird and the snowman. I stamped the star from the Warm Hearts directly onto the card base as well as the sentiment at the bottom. After coloring the heart in the sentiment I added Doodlebug Enamel Dots to finish it up.

I'm glad to say the Warm Hearts set didn't stay in my not yet used box for long. In fact, I received it in the mail one afternoon this week and had a card completed the next day. If only I could do that with all my new stamps.

2014 Christmas in July #5

I am back with Christmas card #5 for Christmas in July and was created using the July Sketch for You to Try (#14) for the basic layout.

I stamped the various sentiments from the Reverse Confetti Bring on the Merry set using My Favorite Things (Blu Raspberry and Black Licorice Hybrid) inks and Memento Rose Bud onto a piece cut with Reverse Confetti Love Note set. I colored the outline word with Copic Markers and then stamped a small flourish image from The Cat's Pajamas J*lly H*liday set at the bottom of the piece. I strung Doodlebug Sequins with Linen Thread, wrapped the strand around the image panel and secured with a PTI Berry Sorbet button. Before attaching the stamped piece I slipped two banners cut with a piece from the Reverse Confetti Tag Me set underneath it at the bottom. All the paper came from the Simple Stories Snap Color Vibe pad.

You Make My World Go Round

Today's tag based card is for the new Tag You're It challenge.

I was drawn to the colors as well as the color strips on the inspiration tags. I started out by cutting white cardstock with the Papertrey Ink Tag #10 die. I stamped one of the images from the My Favorite Things Abstract Art from top to bottom alternating colors using My Favorite Things Wild Cherry, Berrylicous and Sour Apple inks. I then stamped the ferris wheel image and part of the sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Admit One set over the the color splashes with Simon Says Black ink. I cut the word "you" from white cardstock using the Simon Says Small Love You set and positioned it above the stamped sentiment. I adhered a button in the center of the ferris wheel and then threaded the ribbon treatment through the tag hole, tying it with Lawn Fawn twine secured with a button.

For the card I used a Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mat on the front of the card base and added a few more splashes of color to surround the tag. I also finished up the sentiment by stamping it at the bottom of the card.

Products: Lawn Fawn stamps and twine, My Favorite Things stamp and inks, PTI cs, die and buttons, American Crafts ribbon, Simons Says die and ink, Lil Inker Designs die

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
