Cards for Bulgaria

This is the third year in a row that our church has partnered with Mission Bulgaria to provide Christmas shoe boxes for the Roma children in Bulgaria. What is different from the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes (which is also a very fine organization) is that their hygiene/school needs are provided separately so our boxes can be filled with the fun stuff like toys and candy. And the best part, is that we have a specific child to provide for complete with their name and a picture. One photo is attached to the shoebox top and one is to keep so that we may pray for them throughout the year. This mission sends around 3000 boxes and our church usually does about 300 of them. Click here for more info.

I used some older products including a ready made PTI card front and the Reverse Confetti  (no longer in business) Joyous Holiday stamp and die set for the angel and an Illustrated Faith (retired) set for the nativity. Inside is a message from us that I typed in English and then used Google Translate to translate into Bulgarian. The sentiments (Christmas Blessings) were also translated and printed onto cardstock and cut out with an older Paper Smooches die.

For Magdalena, age 7:

For Petar, age 11:

Go & Make Disciples

I haven't done a Faith Friday in a long time but I hope to do more. Today's card was created for a church friend who left for a mission in Asia several days ago. I just wanted to send her off with a word of encouragement.

I used the Reverse Confetti Globe die to cut the the base from stone and the heart globe from iced aqua and green parakeet cardstock. I stamped a portion of the sentiment from a no longer available Illustrated Faith set in the center of the heart using cilantro ink. Before attaching the globe to the card base I stamped an arrow from the same IF set using stone ink and the rest of the sentiment to the patterned paper strip also using london fog ink. The airplane came from a Concord & 9th set. The arrows on the left were cut using The Cat's Pajamas Arrows CutUps. The photo is not that great but I was in a hurry to get it in the mail.

Faith Can Move Mountains

I used the June Sketch for You to Try for the layout on today's card.

I cut a circle from light blue card stock using a die from the Reverse Confetti Lacy Scallop Circles set and then stamped one of the sentiments from The Lord's Strength set using dark chocolate ink. I then stamped the mountains from the Bearing Gifts set onto Neenah cs and cut out with the matching Bearing Gifts die set. After coloring with Copic markers,  I tucked a "sun" behind the image and attached to the circle with dimensional dots. I prepared the background with three strips of patterned paper and then attached the sentiment/image panel with a layer of craft foam for a masculine faith based card.

Come Let Us Adore Him (#thereasonfortheseason)

A Sunday seems the perfect day to start a series of faith based Christmas cards that I am tagging as #thereasonfortheseason. Although, I make both secular and religious Christmas cards my heart really belongs to faith affirming cards. Even on my secular creations, a faith message is stamped inside. The #thereasonfortheseason cards will be featured periodically throughout the month interspersed between other types of projects.

Afterall, Jesus is the reason for the season.

I cut a piece from both black and white cardstock using the largest die from the Simon Says Quadrangle Frames set. The nativity image from the Illustrated Faith Christmas set was stamped onto the center white portion and colored with Copic markers. The sentiment from the same set was stamped onto a stitched circle using bermuda bay ink. Both pieces were attached to a tag cut with the largest die from the Paper Smooches Gift Tags 2 die set. After creating an aqua seam binding ribbon treatment in the tag hole, the tag was attached to the prepared background with foam tape. Stamped stars on the tag and a few wood veneer stars finished it up.

Products: Illustrated Faith stamps, Doodlebug dp, PTI cs, Studio Calico wood veneer stars, Paper Smooches, MFT and Simon Says dies, Stampin' Up and MFT ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Clothing-W00, E81, V12, V15, V17, G20, G21, G24, BG11, BG23, BG34; Manger-W00, W1, W2

I am submitting this to the Color Throwdown #241 challenge.

I hope you will stick with me throughout the month of December as I share my faith based cards with you.

Go Make Disciples

Today's project is a bible bookmark.

I used the Papertrey Ink Bookmark die to cut the bookmark from Ranger watercolor cardstock and then stamped the sentiments and images  from the Illustrated Faith GO! set with Versamark ink doing a bit of masking so I could criss cross the feather images. I then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I believe this set is out of stock again so I just linked to the Etsy shop. At the top of the bookmark I watercolored with a turquoise Zig Clean Color Real Brush to represent the sky and with green at the bottom to represent the earth and added water. After the bookmark was dry, I ironed the back with a mini craft iron to alleviate the buckling of the paper and then used the same die to cut a backing. A snippet of ribbon through the tag hole anchored with a button tied with twine finished it up.

Products: Illustrated Faith stamp, Ranger watercolor cs, May Arts ribbon, PTI button, The Twinery twine, Papertrey Ink die,  Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers
Zigs: Turquoise Green, Light Green

For my South Carolina readers, you all are in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks to everyone for stopping by.

Bloom in Faith

I have another yet another faith based card today using stamps from the Illustrated Faith Bloom set.

I cut a rectangle from vellum using a Lil Inker Designs stitched mat and then stamped the flower image and the sentiments using Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I layered it onto patterned paper and then matted it with a wonky layer in dark blue to ground it. After adding a sun cut with another Lil Inker Designs die, I anchored the piece with a button and added an enamel dot to the flower center.

Products: Illustrated faith stamps, American Crafts dp, Bazill vellum and cs, PTI cs and button, Doodlebug enamel dot, Lil Inker Designs die, Versamark ink

Grow with Prayer

I have another faith based card today using Illustrated Faith stamps.

I cut the tag from Neenah cardstock using a die from the Paper Smooches Gift Tags 2 set and then stamped the flower and sentiment from the Illustrated Faith Bloom set. I colored the image with Copic Markers and then attached the tag to the prepared background using Hemptique cord and craft foam. I kept it simple and organic for a more masculine look.

Copics: Flower-YR30, YR31, YR20, YR23, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97; Shadows-W00, E81

Believe in His Love

Today's card is  a faith based one, using stamps from the Illustrated Faith Bloom set. I originally bought this set for bible journaling but I am also making cards of encouragement for church members on the prayer list as a small mission and these stamps were perfect for that too. I love the idea of combining my love of crafting with my faith.

I cut the rectangle from Neenah card stock using a Lil Inker Designs stitched mat and then stamped the flower image three times, two of them off the panel for a stair step look. After stamping the sentiments I colored the images with Copic markers. The image panel was attached to the base panel with craft foam. A trio of enamel dots finished it up. I love my white space and even though I filled up the image panel more than I usually do I think I still managed to keep it clean and simple.

Copics: Flowers-W00, E81, R22, R24, R27, YG61, YG63, YG67; Shadows-BG0000, BG000, BG70
