Thankful for You

Good morning. I took a break from design team projects to create today's card for a couple of challenges. Even though I have been creating a lot of fall and holiday cards, I am not ready for summer to end. Far from it actually. Despite the unrelenting heat I still love the summer season the best.

I went all in with The Stamp Market stamps and dies with this one. I first stamped the linen cardstock background with the Diamond Design Background using green parakeet ink then cut out with a stitched die. I then used the Butterfly Builder stamps and dies to create the two butterflies using bright buttercup ink for the wings and black for the bodies. I cut the frame from green parakeet ink using a die from the Scalloped Frame Die set, then stamped the sentiment from the Sincere Sentiments set inside it. The butterflies were attached with a combo of glue and foam dimensionals.

Products: The Stamp Market stamps and dies, PTI cs, MFT die, PTI and Simon Says ink

I am submitting this to the debut challenge at Color Hues (yellow and green) and the layout is based on the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

You are important so stay safe. Be blessed.

Woofing You a Wonderful Day

I already had these sweet images from the Avery Elle Dog-Gone set stamped and diecut when I saw the Inspired By: Give a Dog a Bone Challenge so I decided to go ahead and create a card.

I started out by blending the background with speckled egg, fine linen and gathered twigs distress ink, then colored the images. I stamped the sentiments and then attached the images with foam dimensionals,

Products: Avery Elle stamps and dies, PTI cs, Altenew and Ranger Distress ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Dog-E50, E33, E35, E40, E41, C1, C3; Dog-W00, E81, C1, C3, C5, N1, N3; Dog House-W1, W2, E31, E34, E37; Bones-W00, E81; Bowl/Ball-B41, B32

Have a blessed Sunday!

Last Day of Sale! {Purple Onion Designs}

Heads up, today is the last day for the sale!

Today's cards feature two of the sweet images illustrated by Julian Charlton (@juliancharlton). Elliott & Marcel are great friends who always support one another. Don't we all need a supportive friend during these chaotic days? Both of these cards have already been sent to friends of mine.

For my first card after stamping Elliott & Marcel-Feeling Blue I colored with Copic markers, then fussy cut out.  I created the background with a combo of white linen cardstock and patterned paper cut with a stitched die. The sentiment was stamped direct to paper using blueberry sky ink. Enamel dots finished it up.

Products: Purple Onion Designs stamps, Doodlebug dp, PTI cs, Doodlebug enamel dots, MFT die, Altenew ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Elephant-C00, C1, C3, C5, R30, R35, B41, B34, B23; Monkey-E30, E31, E33, E40, E41, E42

For the second card, I stamped Elliot & Marcel-Hugs onto Copic friendly cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I kept it simple with a simple coordinating patterned paper border layered onto cardstock. The sentiment was stamped onto a fishtail tag. More of my favorite embellishements of enamel dots provided a finishing touch.

Products: Purple Onion Designs stamps, Doodlebug dp, PTI cs, Sakura Gelly Roll pen, Altenew ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Elephant-C00, C1, C3, C5, B41, BG10, BG11, BG13; Elliot-E40,E41, E30, E31, E33, R02, BG10, BG110, BG13; Ground-W00, W1, W2

I hope this finds you safe and healthy. Bless you.

{Reminder} The Cat's Pajamas June Challenge

Good morning. I am back with a reminder that you have until the end of the month to complete the TCP Tuesday challenge to use patterned paper on your project.

Even clean and simple cardmakers like me can include patterned paper on their projects without feeling you are cluttering up your panel space. I stamped the sweet chimp from the Jungle Boogie set onto Copic friendly cardstock, colored with Copic markers and then fussy cut out. I placed him onto a linen cardstock and patterned paper panel using foam dimensionals under the leaf portion of the image and the rest with glue. The partial sentiment from the Hang in There Baby set was stamped using summer sunrise ink.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps, Doodlebug dp, PTI cs, Altenew and PTI ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Chimp-E30, E31, E33, E35, E41, E42, E44; Greenery-E70, E71, YG0000, YG01, G40, G43

Post your projects here. There is a $50 gift voucher up for grabs and TCP Products are not required but definitely encourage.

The Cat's Pajamas June TCP Tuesday #369 Challenge

The June TCP Tuesday challenge at The Cat's Pajamas is all about Patterned Paper. TCP products are not required but encouraged. You have until the end of the month to submit a project.

This cute fox from the For Fox Sake set was stamped onto Neenah cardstock, then colored with Copic markers. I used a die from the Framed Up 2 CutUps to cut a frame from patterned paper. Another pattered paper border on the left edge and the sentiment from the Hugs Needed set stamped with canyon clay ink finished it up.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and die, Doodlebug dp, PTI cs, PTI and Altenew ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Fox-E97, E99, E35, W00, E81; Watering Can-BG13, BG15, BG75; Flowers-G46, YR20, YR23; Grass-G40, G43

Here are the details for the TCP Challenge:
  • Each month a new challenge will be posted on The Cat’s Pajamas blog and our Facebook page.
  • If you want to play along you just upload your design to The Cat’s Pajamas blog page using the InLinkz button provided.
  • You are not required to use a Cat’s Pajamas stamp or die but if you have them we would love to see them.

The world is in such trouble right now. I am so glad I have a hobby to keep my mind occupied.

Keep Calm and Insert Coffee

Today's card is for the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Hop. The Cat's Pajamas is a super sponsor and that is the products I have used today.

I used the Freshly Brewed/Coffee Clatch Bundle to stamp the cup lids and cut the cup portions from patterned paper and cardstock. For the cup labels I stamped the small cup from the Sponsored By set (currently out of stock) using classic kraft ink. Using the same classic kraft ink I combined the sentiment from the Keep Calm set and Freshly Brewed sets stamping directly onto the card front. I used an image from the Watercolor Basics to stamp the "coffee splashes", then attached the three assembled cups using foam dimensionals.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and dies, Simple Stories dp, PTI cs, MFT and PTI ink

Rainbow Stripes

I have another sharing hope card to send a Covid-19 "hunkerdowner".

Well obviously this is a simple one. I used The Stamp Market Rainbow Stripes dies to create the rainbow and heart cut from different colors of patterned paper. Using masking tape, I created a cloud background border with tumbled glass distress ink and the My Favorite Things Mini Clouds stencil. The sentiment came from a retired Reverse Confetti set and was stamped with Hawaiian shores ink. Easy peasy! I am submitting this to the Addicted to CAS: Challenge 185-Rainbows.

Products: Reverse Confetti stamp, Sunny Studios and Doodlebug dp, PTI cs, MFT stencil, The Stamp Market dies, PTI ink

Stay safe. Stay healthy!

A friendly reminder that The Cat's Pajamas May Challenge with a theme of Everyday Heroes is going strong and there is plenty of time to get a project submitted for a chance at a $50 gift voucher to The Cat's Pajamas store. TCP products are not required to participate but we love, love, love when you use our stampsdies and stencils. I patterned paper border underneath the image provided the color scheme. The border between the image and sentiment was cut from textured cardstock using the Cloud Border CutUps. I trimmed the border down and added the smallest cloud to the balloon image and a small heart enamel dot to the border.

May TCP Tuesday Challenge #368

The TCP Tuesday challenge at The Cat's Pajamas is all about Everyday Heroes. TCP products are not required to participate and you have until the end of the month to submit a project.

I am using the new Social Distancing Digi Collection that Alma created for FREE! Yay! The images and sentiments are so cute and fun. Perfect for sharing with our everyday heroes helping us through this pandemic. I printed the image and sentiment onto Copic friendly cardstock, then did a bit of coloring as it didn't take that much. After stapling a small piece of toilet paper in the corner, I attached the image panel to the patterned paper background. A few enamel dots finished it up. I plan on giving this to a grocery store clerk.

Happy Thoughts of You

It isn't often that I get to participate in challenges other than for my design teams but this period of staying home to stay healthy does give me some more time to be creative. Just trying to look on the bright side of things.

I stamped the Purple Onion Designs Chloe (bunny) and Charlotte (mouse) onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copic markers then fussy cut out. For the background I first used a stitched circle to create a cutout from linen cardstock. For the cutout portion, I used The Cat's Pajamas Great Outdoors stencil with tumbled glass ink to create the clouds. I used another die to cut the grassy area from patterned paper. The images were attached with foam dots as was the sentiment from the Sweet Summer Sentiment set. The butterfly from the Scattered Flowers & Hush (butterfly) was stamped directly onto the cutout piece and also colored with Copic markers. All the images were illustrated by Stacey Yacula for Purple Onion Designs. I generally followed the sketch for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #484 for the layout.

Products: Purple Onion Designs, Avery Elle dp, PTI cs, The Cat's Pajamas stencil, Lil Inker Designs die, Altenew ink and Ranger Distress ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Mouse-W00, E81, R00, R01, B21, B23; Flower-YG01, R81, R83, Y02; Mouse-C00, C1, C3, R00, R01, R81, R83; Butterfly-BG0000, BG000, BG01, Y000, Y02, Y13, N1, N3, N5

I am trying to mail my cards in order to share hope and cheer to those sheltering in place. We are all in this together!

God Made Rainbows

I have another card to be sent to someone who needs hope and cheer during this stressful time in our lives.

I started with the Reverse Confetti Scallop Window Tag which I used to cut diagonally from rainbow colored paper from the Cheerful & Kind pad. I created a window by using the scalloped center portion of the die, then stamped the sentiment from the Perfect Timing set onto white cardstock, then layered it with the rainbow tag. I used marigold twine to tie a bow in the tag hole. For the border I adhered more patterned paper from the same pad along the bottom of the card front. Finally I added a small circle to represent the sun behind a cloud cut with a die from The Cat's Pajamas Stitched Clouds set.

Products: Reverse Confetti stamps and dies, Reverse Confetti dp, PTI cs, The Twinery twine, The Cat's Pajamas die, Altenew ink

We are all in this together!

Today's card features another new set from illustrator Julian Charlton (@juliancharlton) here at Purple Onion Designs. The entire 7 set collection is available to purchase now.

After stamping the new Elliot and Marcel-Hugs image onto Copics X-Press It, I colored with Copic markers, then fussy cut out. I prepared the background by cutting a stitched rectangle from sea salt cardstock. I used stitched circles in three different sizes to create cutouts and then backed with patterned paper. The image was attached using a layer of craft foam for dimension. Matted enamel dots finished it up. The sentiment came from the previously released Happy Skies set.

*New* Lottie's Gang - Hugs {Purple Onion Designs}

Hello everyone. I am so happy to have a hobby that I can do inside during this shelter-in-place order. Are you making more cards than you normally do? Or are you busy home schooling and cooking? I do keep my granddaughters either 2 or 3 days per week as both their parents are considered essential. I am currently teaching the 11 year how to color with Copics. The 6 year old gets paints, glue and catalogs she can cut up for some very interesting collages 😃.

Today's card features one of the seven new sets from illustrator Julian Charlton (@juliancharlton) here at Purple Onion Designs. The entire collection is available to purchase now.

After stamping the new Lottie's Gang-Hugs image onto Copics X-Press It using espresso truffle ink, I colored with Copic markers, then fussy cut out. I also stamped the same image again onto a Neenah cardstock stitched rectangle piece using cotton candy ink to help with positioning as well as having cute pink tails for the piggies, then stamped the sentiment using espresso truffle ink. After cutting a circle out, I blended sno cone ink around the edges and attached the piece to a patterned paper background using a layer of craft foam, then attached the colored image and clouds inside the cutout which came from the previously released Happy Skies set.

Products: Purple Onion Designs stamps, Avery Elle dp, PTI cs, Honey Bee wood hearts, Simon Says, MFT and Memento ink, Copic Markers
Copics: Pigs-E0000, E00, E01, R00, R01; Fox-W00, E81, E11, E13, E15; (Lottie) Skin-E0000, E00, E11, R20; Hair-E30, E33, E35, E37; Dress-B0000, B000, B01

TCP Tuesday April #367 Challenge

The April TCP Tuesday challenge theme is Share Hope. As cardmakers we have the opportunity to spread cheer and encouragement during this very difficult time in our world.  TCP products are not required to participate although we love seeing you use our stamps and dies. You have until the end of the month to complete a project and an added bonus is the $50 gift voucher some lucky artist has a chance to win.

The flowers from the new Still Life Bundle set were actually created when I made the sneak peeks cards here. That was a day of so much bad news that I turned off the television and took my frustrations on stamping, diecutting and coloring flowers. Even with my fourth card using this set I still have some left over. I placed them onto a patterned piece cut with a die from the Scalloped Duo Die. The sentiment from the Grab the Unicorn set was stamped onto the new Liners Too CutUps

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and dies, Avery Elle dp, PTI and Master's Touch cs, MFT ink, Karin Brushmarker Pro
Karins: Flowers-Red 209, Magenta 359, Gold 283, Canary 166; Leaves-Grass 253

Here are the details for the TCP Challenge:
  • Each month a new challenge will be posted on The Cat’s Pajamas blog and our Facebook page.
  • If you want to play along you just upload your design to The Cat’s Pajamas blog page using the InLinkz button provided.
  • You are not required to use a Cat’s Pajamas stamp or die but if you have them we would love to see them.
  • On the day of the next challenge the winner will be chosen from the previous challenge and will receive a Cat Cash Voucher for $50.

We are all in this together so please use your talents to let people know that you are thinking of them by mailing out the cards you make for this challenge.
