To Grandma's House We Go

 ***Please scroll to the next post for my Sweet November preview***

I had this image colored for several weeks now but not yet made a card. In actuality I got a little emotional about it as the image reminds me of the house where my grandmother lived and passed away so I deliberately put it away for a while. Even after 10 years, every time I drive up to the house to visit my aunt part of me expects to see my granny there too. The November My Favorite Things Guest Designer (MFTGUESTDT1111) contest was the perfect excuse to finally get it completed.

I stamped the house image from the My Favorite Things Inspired by Winter set, masked it and then stamped the trees in the background. After coloring with Copics, I popped the stamped piece back in the Spellbinders die so I could ink around the images with Sky Blue ink and then applied a mixture of Ranger Stickles and white Flowersoft to represent snow. Since the GDT challenge was to "bling it on", in addition to the sparkly snow I added a snowflake cut with the My Favorite Things Snowflake Trio and then attached with an oversized red pearl brad. I added a pearl swirl to represent the smoke coming out of the chimney because you know that fire has to be going on a cold day. I finished it off with two rows of white pearls in place of my usual ribbon. The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Jovial 6x6 pad from last year.

Sweet November Preview Day 1 "wish u goodcheer"

Welcome to the first of four days of Sweet November previews for the month of November. Although it rarely snows here in Alabama I still love snowmen and they always figure prominently in my Christmas cards each year. Today's projects feature "wish u goodcheer."

A bit of departure from me today as I made my card an A10 size. I kept the design simple as I wanted "wish" to shine and I think he does with the cool gray background and by keeping things fairly simple. As you see there is a some out of the box action with the ornaments and the scarf. It's hard to see in a photo but I added Ranger Stickles for the snow and Glossy Accents on the Christmas balls for a little sparkle and shine. I used clear jewels for the center of the snowflake and then again on the border to complete the icy look. The paper is all from the Basic Grey Nordic Holiday pad.

Halloween ATC's

Good morning. I hope you are having a nice weekend. I'm sharing the last of my 2011 Halloween related projects today. I belong to an ATC (Artist Trading Card) group who trade on a monthly basis and the October theme was Halloween. I started out by stamping, coloring and cutting out the Sweet November Mumford image. I crisscrossed some bandaging gauze around the background panel two times and then adhered a couple of sets of googly eyes for some additional spookiness. All the patterned paper is from the My Mind's Eye Mischievous collection.

Jingle Bells {TCP Tuesday 182 -Technique Challenge}

It's a TCP Tuesday project today (TCPTUES 182). Julie is our hostess this week with a technique challenge to use acetate.

I found several sheets of thin acetate in my stash presumably purchased to make window cards. I started out by coloring up this cutie patootie girl from the Jingle Bells set and then cut out. I cut the acetate with the big Snowflake CutUps and then used my finger to swipe Diamond Ranger Stickles to the snowflake to give it a bit of subtle glimmer although it is hard to see in the photo. The bells from the same set were stamped directly to my patterned paper as was the sentiment. I added some miniature bells that I picked up on a whim when shopping at one of the big box stores a couple of weeks ago. Do you think my noisy card will get some attention from the postal service? I generally followed the October Sketch For You to Try for the layout although I made it a square and reversed the panels.

Roll Tide

It's rare that I post twice in one day but I'm trying to squeeze this one in for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge before the deadline (MFTWSC42).  This card is actually by request from my stepdaughter so she can include in a care package to an Alabama student. I've made this type of card before but included some academic highlights since I'm assuming this girl's parents aren't sending her to school just to attend ball games!

Hi everyone. The Sweet November October Review Preview is going on over at the All That Scraps blog today and I'm joining in.

I selected Snowy Emaline to work with again. I paired her up with some of last year's Webster's Pages seasonal papers. After stamping and coloring the image with Copics, I added stickles for the snowflurries and the clothing trim for a bit of sparkle.

ATCs - Cooking/Food Theme

I recently joined an ATC (Artist Trading Card) group who trade on a monthly basis. The September theme was Cooking/Food. I started out by stamping, coloring and cutting out the My Favorite Things al la mode Time to Celebrate image. I added some Ranger Stickles for some sparkly icing and then relied on the uber cute and vibrant Doodlebug Bon Appetit paper and stickers collection for the rest of the design.

Products: My Favorite Things stamp, Doodlebug dp and stickers, Ranger Stickles, Copic Markers

Copics: Skin-E000, E00, E11; Hair-E33, E55, E57; Capris-R22, R24, R27; Tee/Shoes-BG70, BG72; Cake/Plate-B0000, Y21, Y23, Y35, YG21, YG23

I made an extra one for the hostess. I wanted it to be the same theme but yet be different. I used the My Favorite Things Flappers in the Kitchen as my focal point and then added a punched silverware piece, using the reverse rather than the actual punches. I've had that All Night Media punch in my stash for a very long time. Actually, I picked it up when I was working on a contract in New York City several years ago. There was this great stamp store The Ink Pad in the Chelsea area that I visited at least once a month. It's nice to know that I'm still using my purchases from there years later.

Go Bananas

I previewed today's card at the The Cat's Pajamas release party over at Splitcoast Stampers on the 10th but am just now getting around to sharing on the blog. I used the newly release Go Bananas stamp set. I had the Ki Memories paper left over from a Zoo ABC album I made for my granddaughter. I liked the bright happy colors and thought it paired up nicely with the whimsical look of the stamps. I kept everything fairly simple since the paper was so busy.

Just a Note {TCP Tuesday 181 - Inspiration}

It's a TCP Tuesday project today (TCPTUES 181). Jen is our hostess this week with an inspiration type challenge. Inspiration challenges are my very favorite but I have to say this one really got me out of my comfort zone! I guess that is what challenges are for though, right?

I started out by stamping, coloring and cutting one of the three amigos from the Hola Tequila set. I stamped the musical swirl directly to the panel and the the sentiment onto the smallest label from the Circus Panels CutUps. Both stamps are from The Tweetest Things set. I clustered several elements including the Big Ticket diecut, musical note diecut from the Home Tweet Home CutUps and the film strip ribbon and then layered over it with a rosette in which the stamped image and heart diecuts were attached. I finished it off with the sentiment label. Despite the fact that I used two stamp sets and five CutUps I tried not to make it look too busy.

Copics: C00, C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, YR12, YR16, YR18, R22, R24, R27

Karate Boy

Good Monday morning to you. Or is there such a thing as a good Monday?

I was on vacation for two weeks so I've missed several of the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketches. I really wanted to fit this week's sketch in before I missed yet another week (MFTWSC41). I stamped the Pure Innocence Karate Boy onto Copics X-Press It blending cardstock and colored with Copics. I followed Amy Young's tutorial on coloring white on white to color the Gi and I really like how it turned out even though I think my edges are too hard. Thanks Amy!

Sunflower LuLu

TGIF! Fall is definitely here in Alabama. There is a delightful change in the temperature and the leaves are beginning to turn.

My card features one of the C.C. Designs Swiss Pixies "Sunflower Lulu" released in September. I love sunflowers so I am always drawn to any stamps that feature them. I paired it up with one of my favorite My Mind's Eye pads Lost and Found Sunshine.

All That Scraps Wednesday Theme - Pink

Good morning. In honor of the fact that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month today's All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge theme is to use pink.

I used one of my favorite Sweet November images, Grumpy Georgia. Since it is digital I printed onto Copics X-Press It cardstock and then colored it up with Copics markers. I paired it up with this cute C.C. Designs Pink Attitude sentiment. I almost stamped it in pink too but decided the contrast of the black would be sharper. You can also see that I love My Favorite Things Die-namics too as I used them on this card quite liberally. I love that All That Scraps carries these along with quite a few of my other favorite stamp and die companies.

Copics: Skin-E30, E000, E11, R20; Hair-YR30, Y21, Y26, E35; Dress/Shoes-R81, R83, R85; Leggings-C3, C5, C7

I hope to see you back here soon.
