Pinwheel Love

Today's card is for this week's The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday Challenge (TCPTUES162) which is to include fabric. I love fabric and have a drawer filled with fat quarters even though I haven't sewn a stitch in a couple of years now! Once a collector, always a collector I guess. For this card, I used the What a Blast stamp set.  He's new-ish and although I stamped him for an ATC and also the pinwheel portion of the image on last week's TCP Tuesday card, I still consider him as not being used since I hadn't made a full size card yet. I segregate my "I haven't used 'em yet" stamps so that I turn to them first when I start a card. I'm happy that P.J. will be mingling with the rest of the stamp population after today. I stamped him onto Copics X-Press It cardstock swiping away the pinwheel portion of the image. He was colored with Copics after paper piecing his tummy. For the fabric challenge, I fused together two pieces of fabric and then cut out with the Pinwheel Cutups. My Cuttlebug didn't cut all the way through (I think because of all the layers) but the markings were distinct on one side so it was easy to finish them off with scissors. I actually think using fabric for the pinwheel will make it easier to mail. 

I am double dipping on challenges since I also followed the June Sketch for You To Try.

All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge - Aqua, Yellow and Lime Green

It is time for another All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge. There is a great prize being offered and in order to be eligible to win, your project must include a stamp that is sold in the All That Scraps shop whether it is any of the wonderful in house designs or from the various other stamp companies that ATS carries. Be sure to link up your project with Mr Linky by next Tuesday at 10PM EST and only one entry per person please! Today's challenge is to use the colors "aqua, yellow and lime green" on a project.

I love all these colors separately and in combination. We rented a condo at Orange Beach one summer and it was decorated primarily in these colors so I always think of summer when I see them together. I can't seem to stop using the Sweet November Flitter Friends collections. Today's card features Blueberry friend. I love how you can mix and match these stamps. This time she is in a garden filled with flowers and butterflies rather than blueberries. And speaking of butterflies, the C.C. Designs Butterfly Cutters are back in stock. I used the largest one on this project. I cut it twice - once with plain white cardstock and then again with the patterned paper. I glued together just ever so slightly offsetting so that a bit of the white would show through.

I stamped the image onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copic markers and then cut out. I added some glittery goodness to her wings with yellow Stickles and then attached her to a rosette made with The Cat's Pajamas Rosette die. The paper is a mix of My Mind's Eye, Echo Park and Cosmo Cricket.

Wet Puddle

I hope you are having a great weekend. It is unbearably hot here so I've been indoors with the air conditioner for the most part. It doesn't make for a funfilled weekend but at least I am getting quite a few things done in the house. I just made a pitcher of nice, tart lemonade. I'm waiting for the lemons to steep a bit more before pouring me a big glass. I made up a batch of hummingbird feeder food I while I was at it but I'm going to wait until late in the afternoon to put it out. It doesn't take long for that sugar water to turn to alcohol in this blistering heat.

Today's card is for this week's The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday Challenge (TCPTUES161) which is an inspiration challenge. I took my inspiration from the colors of pink and green. I'm using the Wet Puddle stamp again. I have definitely got my money's worth out of this stamp! This time I also added the clouds and pinwheel from another TCP set, What a Blast. I used the Pinwheel Cutups to add another small pinwheel on top of the stamped one. I paperpieced a lot of this and colored the rest with Copic markers.

I thought I would also share with you a stamp mishap while working on this card. I stamped the image, masked it, then stamped the puddle portion. I was reaching for the stamp pad to stamp the pinwheel at the top when I fumbled it and naturally it landed right on my image.

Definitely had to have a do-over. Now if I had been planning on a grungy type card, I would have just left it, pretending it was part of my design plan all along!

Sweet November Preview - Shelly with Bebe Beluga

Today's card is all about a baby mermaid Shelly and her sea creature friends. All images were stamped onto Copics X-Press It blending cardstock, colored with Copic Markers and then cut out. I decided to include Mumbo and Gumbo from yesterday's stamp set since I didn't include them on that project.  Besides, I love shrimp, or at least I like to eat shrimp. I made them a color in line with the cooked kind rather than the under the sea color. Gumbo is actually tickling the cute little whale under the chin.

Sweet November Preview - Pebble with Jumbo and Gumbo

Now on to my card. I was so excited to see this sweetie pie riding along in a shell. I adore seashells - they are just one of the miracles of life. I instantly knew that I wanted to create a scene and I started out by using a Louby Lou underwater digital stamp which I printed twice, once onto the solid water looking paper as the background and then again onto a subtle pattern paper. I cut out the images on the patterned paper and then used the background print as a guideline for placement. I wanted it to appear that this little mermaid had floated on her shell to the bottom of the sea. After I had my background finished I stamped Pebble onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copics and then cut out. I attached to the scene using pop dots to give it a floating look. All patterned paper and chipboard buttons are from an older Crate Paper collection, Blue Hill. I thought the buttons looked somewhat like starfish.

Sweet November Preview - Splash and Wave

I broke out some more older products for these two little cutie patooties. The background paper is some Club Scrap dp - I added some additional waves with a The Cat's Pajamas stamp and colored with Copics. Of course, my husband told me it looked like sharks in the water. I refuse to believe that - and even if they are sharks- I'm sure they don't eat baby mermaids. After stamping the two mermaids, I colored with Copics and then cut out, positioning them in the waves a bit differently than they were on the stamp. The strips at the top and bottom were cut from the edges of an old Autumn Leaves sheet. I finished it off with a Doodlebug token that has been around a while too.

Sweet November Preview - Sandy Breakwater with Mama Crabby

Now onto my card featuring a beautiful mermaid and her crabby friend. I stamped both images onto Copics X-Press It blending cardstock, colored with Copics and then cut out. I attached them both to a Martha Stewart paper doily using pop dots here and there for dimension. I've had this 7 Gypsies Reef Journey paper for a long time and thought it fit the theme perfectly. It reminds me of the Great Barrier Reef, a place I hope to see in person someday. I cut it in four pieces, alternating the direction of the stripes then put it back together to form the background. Technically the sheer piece is suppose to be a rose but I thought it had a beachy, coral type quality to it. I added some jewels of the sea to a stickpin - ok - they are just beads - I needed an excuse to use them as I have plenty of them in my craft drawer.
