A Spot of Tea (TCP Tuesday 227)

Good morning. Today's project is for TCP Tuesday (TCPTUES227) which is a technique/supply challenge from our hostess Julie to make a gift for the teacher.

After a long day in the classroom I would think a nice cup of tea would be a great relaxer so I decided to make a card/gift combination with a tea theme. I used the Gift Card Envie CutUps to create an open pouch and attached it to a card front. I inserted a Tazo tea bag tied with a pretty seam binding bow. There is room to add one more bag but frankly it photographed better with one. The tea cup image is from  Toni's Tea Set. If you look close you can see the two small white beads in the center of the spoon to represent lumps of sugar. I attached a real teabag tag to the edge of the image and added a couple of small buttons to finish things up.

All the details for this TCP Tuesday challenge can be found in the TCP Splitcoast Stampers Forum. As always, there is potential for fame (Pick of the Litter) and/or fortune (Pick of the Week) and possibly even Swanky Stamper of the Month. I hope you will join us this week. Good luck!

Ships That Sail in the Night

Good morning. And it really is a happy Monday morning as we are experiencing a very nice break in our normally hot, hot month of September. The past couple of days have consisted of sunshine with temps in the low 80's and better yet, a very low humidity factor. Just perfect really. I plan on getting some much needed yard work done today.

Today's card is for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch (MFTWSC88) although I did flip the sketch around to portrait style. I took this opportunity to make a more masculine card for my stash using papers from the Glitz Yours Truly 6x6 pad. I stamped the ship from the Inspired by Travel set onto one of the neutral patterns from the pad. As much as I love my Copics, some times it is nice to just stamp and go. I cut the background pennant piece with the The Cat's Pajamas Pennant CutUps. The sentiment tag was cut with an old Quickutz die. Buttons, a mini brad and linen thread provided the finishing touches.

Have a great week!

Thinking of You

I hope this Sunday finds you a happy camper. Sorry, couldn't resist as I used The Cat's Pajamas Happy Camper set to create this card. This set makes me smile every time I look at it. As you can see I have the squirrel roasting a marshmallow over a fire. The squirrels around here are as brazen as this little guy and it wouldn't surprise me all that much to look outside and see them firing up the grill on our deck.

I combined this fun stamp set with the new Simple Stories Harvest Lane 6x6 pad. I am obsessed with this paper pad right now! I used the sentiment from The Cat's Pajamas Simply Said set and this week's iSpy sketch (ISSC32) for the layout.

C.C. Designs Preview - Thankful for Fall

The All That Scraps Design Team have one more set to show you from last night's September release. Thankful for Fall is a set of three images and two sentiments. And how awesome is it that last February's Acorns Cutters match the fall wreath image?!

I stamped and then colored the wreath image with Copic Markers, then layered two felt acorn shapes cut with the Acorns Cutters over two of the stamped images for a 3D effect. I added two felt leaves cut with the same set and secured with a button and Linen Thread. The images which is also from the Thankful set was stamped directlly onto the panel. Some threadless machine stitching and a smattering of buttons completed the look.

Sweet November Preview - Boo

Welcome to the September Sweet November previews for All That Scraps. The Boo set includes three of the three cutest little ghosties you've ever seen. I know I am showing my age now, but they remind me of the cartoon Casper, the Friendly Ghost. I have two cards using this set.

First up is this little guy holding a bat garland. I used last year's Pink Paislee patterned paper and added a fun banner cut with the also new Mini Banners Cutters. Cute, huh? I can see me using it a lot. The sentiment is from last months C.C. Designs Halloween Sentiments.

Copics: C00, C1, E81, B21, B32, R11, R20

My second card features another Boo holding Frankie. The paper is Pink Paislee again from a couple of years ago and wasn't really Halloween paper. I thought the colors were perfect plus I also had the Flip Notes to match which I altered a bit with a lighter strip in the middle for the sentiment. Again, the sentiment is from last months C.C. Designs Halloween Sentiments. I really have gotten a lot of use out it. The My Mind's Eye brad has also been in my stash for a while. Some mini brads, ribbon and buttons provided the finishing touches.

Proverbs Woman

***If you are looking for today's All That Scraps preview, please scroll down to the next post.***

Finally!, the rain has stopped and we are experiencing some sunshine once again. My own outlook was as gloomy as the weather the last few days.

I have a quick post to show you my card for the current Mojo Monday Sketch (MOJO257) challenge. I used Verve Proverbs 31:28 as the center piece, adding flowers cut with Verve Loopy Blooms dies. The paper is new from My Minds Eye A Mother's Love pad which is rather appropriate for the sentiment.

C.C. Designs Preview - Gardening Gloria

I'm back with another preview of the All That Scraps stamps for September. Today's card is from the Mashi's Muffins line, Gardening Gloria.

First off, let me say that I was born and lived in the country until I was a young adult. However, if I didn't resemble my family and act like them, I would swear I was switched at birth. I am a city girl. Period. Nonetheless, I decided to go country all the way with this card. I paired the image with Simple Stories Summer Fresh patterned paper. I found the gingham fabric tag in my stash although I cut it down for a better fit. The sentiment is from the the also new for this release Farm Logos which I cut out with the small ticket from the Ticket Dies Cutters. I added a flower cut with the Sunflower Cutters and some distressed washi tape to finish things up. I used lots of Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo) around the edges of the various elements including the main image.
