Lovebugs {Purple Onion Designs}

Today's card is a Valentine featuring an image from Purple Onion Designs.

I cut the stitched squares from white cardstock using the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Film Strip Die and then stamped the various bugs from the Purple Onion Designs Love Bugs set onto three of them. Each of the bugs were colored with a combination of Spectrum Noir and Copic Markers. The sentiment from the Homegrown Sentiment set was stamped onto the fourth square. The main panel was cut with a My Favorite Things stitched die from textured cardstock and I then added two patterned papers strips from the Doodlebug Lovebugs pad. I placed the completed squares on the panel using dimensional tape, then wrapped Hemptique twine around it, tying in a bow. A trio of sequins finished it up.

The Sugar Bowl "Anything Goes" February Challenge

Today's card is for The Sugar Bowl February "Anything Goes" challenge.

 I printed the Sugar Nellie Furry Friends Bunny with Gift digital stamp onto Copics X-Press It cardstock and then cut with a My Favorite Things Pierced die. This little cutie is free with purchase! After coloring with Copic Markers, I combined with patterned papers from the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge pad, creating the bow with the My Favorite Things Dainty Bow set. A couple of matted enamel dots finished it up.

I Love You {Purple Onion Designs}

I have card today featuring another Purple Onion Designs stamp.

I stamped a portion of the Hearts on a String image onto a tag cut with the Papertrey Ink Tag Sale #10 die and then the Chloe image onto Copics X-Press It cardstock. After coloring all images with a combination of Copic and Spectrum Noir markers, I fussy cut out the bunny. I wrapped a paper doily around the bottom of the tag and then attached the bunny image to it using dimensional dots. After preparing the background with patterned paper from the Fancy Pants Me-ology I attached the tag and then added a sentiment from the Doodle Frame Heart and a scattering of enamel dots. Now that is one sweet bunny!

My Heart {Purple Onion Designs}

I have another card today featuring a Purple Onion Designs stamp.

I stamped the Doodle Frame Heart onto Copics X-Press It cardstock and then colored the frame portion with Copic Markers and paper pieced the heart. I fussy cut out and then attached to a tag cut with Reverse Confetti Tag Me Too die. I made the tag longer using two patterned papers from the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge pad, adding a double ended flag banner cut from Recollections Mirrored Gold cardstock to separate the two patterns. I topped the tag with black Hemptique twine and then attached the stamped piece to it with dimensional dots. I prepared the background by embossing the lower portion and adding a strip of plain black cardstock. After attaching the tag to the background, I added a trio of clear sequins.

2015 Goals and Something New

Warning: today's post is totally random and if you are looking for a card only, then you will be disappointed.

First of all, I want to list my 2015 goals here ( I prefer goals as opposed to resolutions). Not because I think you are interested in my life choices but simply as a way to hold myself accountable.

Life goals:

• Continue on my weight loss/healthier life style plan for life
• Strengthen my body and my relationships with family and God
• Join the church we've been attending regularly for two years
• Read the bible more
• Pray
• Organize, purge and refresh our house

Crafty goals:

• Use my stuff
• Join more challenges
• Organize and purge
• Try new things

Do those sound doable? I think they do. Now on to the crafty stuff.


With today's project I am blurring the lines between my life and crafty goals. Sometime late last year I ran across Shanna Noel's blog quite by accident and discovered the art of Bible Journaling. I quickly added her blog to my reader and searched on Pinterest for ideas. Oh my. So much to take in. I was excited to get started but...wait...needed a journaling bible first, then some other supplies, then Christmas happened. So, I just now got my first page completed this week. I recently joined a Facebook Group that Shanna has set up Journaling Bible. It seems to be a nice group yet it can be intimidating. There are some true artists out there. I consider myself creative but definitely not artistic. My background is scrapbooking and stamping so that is the tools I used to create this jounal entry.

I chose this page to start with because this is actually one of my favorite bible verses and, it was included on a life application message at our church on December 21. I started out by painting a thin coat of Liquitex Matte Gel Medium to curb bleed through to the back page. I then stamped the Verve Psalm 119:105 sentiment onto the page and also the candle from the Pinecone Christmas set and then colored where needed with Copic Markers. I added part of the life application message from my notes that day using some tiny letter stickers from my scrapbook stash. I highlighted the verse with Copics and then added a spritz of V12 Copic marker across the page using my old Stampin' Up Spritzer tool. Simple is normally my style anyway but I definitely went even simpler since this was my first page.

I realize that a Christian related hobby is not for everyone and I also realize that some Christians are going to consider that I am defacing the bible. But to be perfectly honest although I understand the basics of the bible I have not ever been much of a regular reader. Oh sure, certain verses strike a cord with me but to sit down and actually read and study it has been a struggle. I feel that by combining a hobby that I already love to do with the reading of God's word will help me grow spiritually (see my life goals above). Is it for everyone? No. And that is ok.

Flowers, Hearts and Ladybugs {Purple Onion Designs}

I have a project today featuring Purple Onion Designs stamps.

I stamped the Heart Flower onto a white cardstock rectangle cut with a Lil Inker Designs stitched die. And then stamped the various portions of the flower onto four different pieces of patterned paper. I fussy cut out all the various pieces and then paper pieced them onto the background flower, allowing for the outlined portions to remain white for more contrast. I also paper pieced the sentiment which came from the Doodle Frame-Heart set. I then stamped the ladybug from the Love Bugs set onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copic Markers and then fussy cut out. I attached it to the image panel with dimensional dots and then added the panel to the prepared background. Lastly, I added a trio of sequins. All the patterned paper except the green came from the super cute Doodlebug Lovebugs pad.

There's Nothing Like Home

Today's card is for this week's Merry Monday #142 Challenge to include a house on a project.

I stamped the house from The Cat's Pajamas Home for All Seasons set using Vermillion Ranger Archival ink and then cut out with the matching die from the Village CutUps. The sentiment was stamped onto a piece cut with the Fancy Flip CutUps. I colored the ribbon in the sentiment with Copic Markers and then inserted two red mini brads on each side. I cut the patterned paper from the Pink Paislee Merry & Bright pad using a Lil Inker Designs stitched die. The double snowflake was cut with two dies from the My Favorite Things Pierced Snowflakes set. I attached all to the background with dimensional tape. The snowflake dies and patterned paper were both new as I bought them during the December sales. I'm really making an effort to use my stuff rather than letting it sit so long in my new box. Sorry about the dark photo. My 9 month old granddaughter Amelia is with me today and I had to wait until nap time.

{The Cat's Pajamas} TCP Tuesday Sketch Challenge

It's TCP Tuesday challenge time at The Cat's Pajamas and Wendy is our hostess for this rotation with a sketch challenge.

I started out by cutting the main panel from patterned paper with my Silhouette using the Free Cutables that Alma provides with each sketch

I stamped the One Cupcake image onto Copics X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut out. I paper pieced the cupcake wrapper and then attached the image to the panel with dimensional dots. The extra sprinkles and the sentiment were stamped directly onto the card base. The banner at the top was created with the Bitty Banners CutUps and strung together with Hemptique cording.

Sparkle and Shine

I have my first Christmas card of 2015 for you today. I intend making them all year around and skipping my Christmas in July. Plus frankly I had quite a few Christmas themed products in my new box and I needed to use them. Two of my goals this year are to use my stuff and also to participate in more challenges. Today's card is for the Merry Monday 140 Challenge to include snowflakes.

I stamped the two images from the Simon Says Sparkle and Shine set with Versamark Ink onto Sea Glass cardstock circle and then heat embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder. I placed it in a circle cut out from white textured cardstock, layered onto Soft Stone cardstock. I added a snowflake cut from gold glittery cardstock cut with the Simon Says Kate Snowflake die and a smattering of gold sequins for a clean and simple card.

My Soul Waits

Good morning. Is it cold enough for everyone? I can't believe the temperatures here in the south. Definitely not something we are use to.

Since Verve is taking the month off with their sketch and diva challenges I decided to do this week's Mojo Monday (#379) sketch instead. I had a new to me Verve stamp set so I was anxious to get it out of my way-too-many-new-stamps stack.

I cut the background pieces using Spellbinders Nestabilities dies and then wrapped a ribbon bow around them. I stamped the sentiment from the New Mercies set onto a tag cut with the Tagged Rectangle Die, attaching to the panel with dimensional dots. I topped the tag with a flower cut with the new Loopy Blooms Die and stamped with the matching image from the Making a Statement set along with branches cut with the Sprightly Sprigs Die set. A couple of enamel dots finished it up. All the patterned paper came from an older My Mind's Eye pad, Be Amazing.

Thanks a Bunch

Today's card is for the January Reverse Confetti Sketch Challenge #20. I haven't had a chance to play in several months so it was good to get back in the saddle so to speak.

I bought the Petals 'N Posies stamp and matching die set back when Reverse Confetti had a sale. I had been wanting it for a while and since I am on a quest to use my stuff I was happy to break it out of the packaging for this card. I started out by creating the shaker with two Spellbinders Nestabilities and then assembled, filling with various sequins. I stamped the flower with Hero Arts Fresh Peach shadow ink, cut out with the matching die, cut the leafy stem from patterned paper and attached all to the shaker. The slanted panel was cut using a combo of the Diagonal Stripe Pretty Panels and Love Note die and I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card base. All the patterned paper except for the green came from the Studio Calico Brighton Pier pad.

The Cat's Pajamas (TCPTUES281) Inspiration Challenge

Welcome to the first The Cat's Pajamas TCP Tuesday challenge of 2015! As you know, we took a break in December to celebrate the season with our families but we are back and ready to go.

The details of the challenges remain the same for this year. It is still a two week one and we rotate the challenge types between: Color, Inspiration, Sketch and Anything Goes. The winner (chosen at random) will receive a $10 gift certificate to The Cat’s Pajamas shop and if the winner uses a TCP product, the GC increases to $15.

Kelli is our hostess to start us out with an inspiration challenge. I was inspired by the clouds in both photos so I used the The Cat's Pajamas Cloud Border CutUps to cut a cloud portion from Slate cardstock and attached to a patterned paper rectangle from the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge pad cut with a Spellbinders Nestie. I attached it to a plain white cardstock background with a border strip of patterned paper from the same pad and then stamped the sentiment from the Life's a Beach stamp set directly onto it. I attached the background piece to the Sweet Blush card base with dimensional dots and added a trio of stacked sequins.
