Leaf It

Today's three faith based cards were created for Grace Klein here in Birmingham (@grace_klein_community). This is a wonderful faith based organization that has many charitable endeavors both locally and globally. Their goal is to give out 100,000 scripture based cards this year to be included with the food, clothing and school supply boxes, etc. They want cards in bundles of 25 which is daunting to our kind of card makers but my goal is to donate 100 cards by the end of the year. If you have any questions or want to join me, please send me an email or comment on this post and I will give you the details.

I used the Concord & 9th Triple Set Stamp set to stamp the various elements using peacock, oceanside and grasshopper ink then cut out with the matching die. The sentiment from the Stamp Simply Words of Encouragement set was stamped onto a peacock cardstock panel using Versamark ink and white heat embossed. The stamped piece was attached with foam dimensionals and a few pearls from my stash finished it up.

Products: Stamp Simply stamps, Concord & 9th cs, MFT and Concord & 9th dies, Versamark and Concord & 9th ink

For the second card I just used the Triple-Step Autumn Leaf  Die set for a cardstock only leaf.  Although it was triple step I just two colors instead of stardust and tidepool. The small leaf clusters were stamped using stardust ink. The sentiment from the Stamp Simply Fear Not  set was stamped using Versamark ink onto a stardust oval then white heat embossed. Cording was tied around the leaf stem before attaching all the pieces to a tidepool cardstock panel.

Products: Stamp Simply stamps, Concord & 9th cs, Hemptique twine, Spellbinders, MFT and Concord & 9th dies, Versamark and Concord & 9th ink

For the last " leafy" card I first did some ink smooshing with mowed lawn distress ink and the Picket Fence Studios$ Trapezoid Stencil onto a stitched edge cardstock panel. The sentiment from the Stamp Simply Fear Not set was stamped using the same mowed lawn ink. The two leaves were cut from cardstock scraps using the Neat and Tangled Oak Leaf die (no longer in business). Twine and pearls from my stash finished it up.

Products: Stamp Simply sentiment set, Hemptique twine, Picket Fence Studios stencil, Neat and Tangled and MFT dies, Ranger ink

These cards represent #27, #28 and #29 of my second bundle of 25.

I am submitting the first card to the the Word Art Wednesday challenge of Anything Goes - Weeks #650-660.

You Warm my Heart

I have a last minute entry for the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #26 to include a heart. This has actually been ready for a while but I just could not get it photographed and uploaded. I've had two eye surgeries and have found it difficult to work around the procedures.

I used an older product from a now defunct company, the Neat and Tangled Penguin Treat Holder to put together the penguin. I added the hat, candy cane and coffee cup using dies from the Lawn Fawn Woodland Critter Huggers Winter Add-On die set. The sentiment from the Pinkfresh Studio Sweet Friend Flora was stamped onto a heart shaped die cut using pure poppy ink. I actually used last week's Freshly Made sketch but didn't get it in on time for the challenge. Story of my life these days. I am not super happy how I put the items in the penguin arms but then again I haven't seen any penguins holding cups and candy canes either!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great rest of the weekend.

BRRRR!

The title above has nothing to do with the actual temperature. Here in Alabama we are practically on hell's front porch it is so hot. I wanted to squeeze in one more Christmas card for Christmas in July. I need about 50 more but at least it is a start.

I used the fun sketch from this week's Freshly Made Sketches #398 Challenge because it offers up such an interesting background for my little snowman. I stamped an image from The Cat's Pajamas Watercolor Basics stamp set using garden party, it's a boy and mint to be inks for the background. I should really just keep this set on my craft table permanently I use it so much. I then stamped the snowman, sign and bird from the Neat and Tangled Snow Fun set onto Neenah cardstock, cut out with the matching Snow Fun dies and colored with Copic Markers. The images were then attached to the image panel using foam squares and lastly three snowflakes from the were were stamped with gala red ink.

It's Beginning to Smell Like Christmas

I have been wanting to participate in the 25 Day of Christmas Tags challenge for a while now but it's been both busy around here with both personal things as well as design team work.  So, here I am with my first one 18 days after the challenge started! I also desperately need more Christmas cards so I am adding today's tag to a card.

I was inspired by Kay Miller's Day 13 tag. I mean really, who isn't inspired by Kay's creativity?!

I cut a tag shape from white card stock using the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duo 3 die then used a stencil as Kay did on her tag using berrylicous ink. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the tag then added a topper in hawaiian shores and a strip at the bottom cut from patterned paper using a small scalloped die. I then stamped all the images from the Neat & Tangled Holiday Baking set, cut out with the matching dies and attached to the tag. Twine in the tag hole finished it up.

Hello Pumpkin

I have been a bit spendy lately with my crafty supplies yet have barely had the time to touch them. I am trying to get a few of them out of the new box in between design team assignments. I am entering today's card in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge which is Fall/Halloween photo inspired.

We don't get much of an autumn around here but that doesn't mean I don't like to make fall themed cards. I couldn't resist the Hello Pumpkin set which is a Neat and Tangled and Simon Says collaboration. I first prepared the background by using Fossilized Amber and Spiced Marmalade distress oxides ink onto a watercolor rectangle. I loosely added water with a wet brush and then cut it with a wonky stitched rectangular die after it dried. I stamped the various images onto Neenah card stock, cut out with the matching dies and then colored with Copic Markers. I stamped the candied apple image onto Copics X Press It and after coloring I fussy cut the apple portion out. I stamped the image directly onto the background again so I would not have to fussy cut out the stick. After stamping the sentiment,  I attached the images using a combo of glue and foam tape for dimension.

Products: Neat and Tangled/Simon Says stamps and dies, Ranger, Neenah and PTI cs, MFT, Simon Says and Ranger Distress Oxide ink, Copic Markers

Little Baby Jesus (#thereasonfortheseason)

Today's faith based Christmas card is another one for my #thereasonfortheseason series. If you missed the others, you can find them here.

Afterall, Jesus is the reason for the season.

I stamped the image from the Neat and Tangled Little Baby Jesus set onto Neenah cardstock twice so I could stack them and then cut out with the matching dies. The baby Jesus portion was trimmed closer and then attached to the hay with foam tape for dimension. I prepared the background by using the smooshing on acetate technique with blueberry sky ink onto Ranger Distress watercolor card stock and then added more water with a wet brush. Splatters of Hero Arts Unicorn white ink completed the look. After cutting out the watercolor piece with a wonky stitched rectangle die, I stamped part of the sentiment directly onto the panel. The rest of sentiment was stamped onto a double ended flag which was attached with a layer of foam tape. A few stars cut from gold metallic cardstock and attached with foam dots finished it up.

Products: Neat and Tangled stamps and dies, PTI, Ranger Distress watercolor and Michael's gold metallic cs, MFT dies, Hero Arts ink, PTI and MFT ink, Copic Markers
Copics: N1, N3, N5, E00, E01, E13, W00, E81, YR30, YR31, YR20, YR23

Christmas Eve is one of my favorite days. My Christmas prep is done so all I have to do is enjoy the day. We will be heading out for a Church service in the early evening which is always so special and moving. I love the candle lighting, communion, the music, everything.
