Playing Cards with Friends

I am starting off the new year by playing cards with my sweet and creative internet friend Michele @ I Card Everyone. We actually met in person several years ago when she came through Alabama. She is just as delightful in person as she is virtually. Here are the requirements:

  • New Year – New to You stamp  and a card for any occasion!
  • Never-before-used product
  • Any company welcome

The hardest thing about this challenge was to narrow down the stamp set. Sadly, I have lots of stamps and dies I have not used. I console myself by knowing that surely I am not the only one who purchases more than they can ever use.

Apparently I never met a The Greetery stamp or die I didn't like so that was the first place I looked for something never before used. And just as I suspected there were lots of opportunities there!

I used fresh pear, olive green and gathered twigs ink to stamp the branch of leaves from The Greetery Layered Leaves Stamp set and then cut out with the matching dies. This was the never before used set. I then stamped the main sentiment from the Comforting Commands set using lazy day ink onto a die cut piece from PTI which came from one of Betsy's fabulous mega Christmas kits. For the stitched background, I blended lazy day ink onto it then stamped the secondary sentiment using chocolate brown ink.

Products: The Greetery stamps and dies, PTI cs and die, Pinkfresh Studio, MFT, Ranger Distress and Simon Says ink

I hope the new year is off to a great start for you! Please stay safe and healthy. This thing isn't over yet.

Thank you Michele for inviting me to plays cards with you. You can find Michele's card here

  1. Happy New Year, Nancy! I can't think of a better way to start it off than using some of our 'collection' of new goodies - you are not alone I guarantee it!
I have a love of leaves and often buy a floral set just because of their leaves! What a wonderful image to bear these beautiful words!
Thank you, my friend, for starting off the year of Playing Cards so beautifully!

  2. Just dropped over from Michele's site but I definitely will be back. What a lovely, well designed card. Well worth anointing that unused set with ink. Plus I've had the pleasure of scrolling through the rest of your blog. Win-win, in my book.

  3. I'm so happy to visit again and know you're playing with Michele, I love seeing your work anytime. This card is beautiful, I love the simplicity of the design and layout that enables the message to take center stage. Fabulous!

  4. Your leaves are so pretty, Nancy, and a fantastic background to show them off!! I have a LOT of NBUS too ;-).

  5. This is lovely! And it is a perfect way to start the new year by using some of that NBUS!!
